Good evening, everyone. Rounds of strong to severe storms are aimed at the bluegrass state later this evening into the overnight. My thoughts on this have not changed from what I’ve already put out there over the past several days.
The greatest threat for severe weather is just to the north of the Ohio River, but that threat focuses south of the river tonight. Large hail and damaging winds are the primary players, but a few tornadoes cannot be ruled out.
I have the blog set for all your severe weather tracking needs. Don’t forget to use the interactive radar for street level storm tracking anywhere in the country. You can also see live video feeds from storm chasers out in the field.
Enjoy the evening and take care.
Several report’s of tornado’s in Indiana and Ohio..Be safe friends in northern Ky..
Just had wind gust of over 50 mph…power is flickering, storms decaying nearby contributing to gusts? 40-50 mph now for at least 5 minutes
Why not a warning?
Also Louisville International with gusts of at least 53mph
SW Jefferson county that was the most intense hour long wind storm with no rain I have been through in quite a long time. I have gutter damage to front and back of my house as gutters are lying in front of garage and in the backyard smh. I got more tree limbs than I can count of all size down in the backyard. I witnessed two transformers blowing, power was out for a brief period. Neighbors trampoline completely destroyed and lifted up over his fence and is down the street. Another neighbors mailbox completely gone from the post. Papers and trash bags, soda cans flying down the street. Anything that was loose outside is either moved or is down the road. My best guess was mixing in the atmosphere cause the winds to go to the surface.
Huge, nasty cell between Owensboro and BG right now that could slam us later.
Just finished helping neighbor clear our road after 8″ diameter limb fell. Fired up my relatively new Husky and with his chainsaw too along with another neighbor’s help dragging brush away, we cleared the road good enough for school bus to get through for later this morning.
