Good evening, gang. Our Friday forecast is looking absolutely amazing, with temps that will have you thinking spring. Soak that one up because some soaking rains are on the way for the weekend. This leads us into a changeable forecast as we get set to end January and say hello to February.
60 degree temps are a good bet on Friday as gusty southwesterly winds kick in. Those winds may reach 40mph or greater into early Saturday. That’s when showers increase from west to east. Those will carry us into early Sunday.
A second front then dives in by Sunday night, introducing a cold northwesterly wind…
This northwesterly wind…
Will likely lead to snow showers and flurries kicking in and taking us through Tuesday. This air looks colder and colder as we get closer. Highs may not get much past 30 with lows dropping into the teens.
The late week system continues to look fairly potent. An arctic front working in from the northwest will have a slow-moving wave of low pressure developing along it, leading to the potential for significant winter weather in our region.
The GFS keeps showing this very well for next Thursday and Friday…
We shall see how all that works out, but the signal for an Ohio Valley winter weather event.
The snow signals are also there on the Ensembles. The GFS Ensembles for the next few weeks…
The European Ensembles…
Have a great evening and take care.
Thanks Chris! Sounds like a busy time is coming. May want to take up s collection now to increase server size! 😉 Have a good evening everyone.
WAVE 3 already putting out an “Alert Day” for next Thursday, Feb. 1, for possible snow accumulation. Just when I was starting to have spring thoughts…
looks like meh
looks like a good shot at snow in early feb.,, we shall see as Chris has stated. Feb. has had some good snows in the past so lets just wait and see if the snow and cold can come join each other at the right time?
Northeast looks a lot more impressive than CKY. But I guess that’s true ALL the time
Therefore probably accurate 😉
Looking at the maps above, it shows most of the snow to our north and east (as usual), so might be legit 😉
Why then is Chris making a big deal about it?
The GFS is staying very consistent for that Winter storm on Feb. 1-2. It`s hardly ever this locked in on something.
Canadian model is giving Cincinnati a Foot or More. I’m not buying it at all. By the time next Thursday gets here it will be down to the usual 1-3 inches. We will see haha
