Good evening, folks. April temps have engulfed the bluegrass state, with records and all time monthly records possible through Tuesday. This warm air will come with a price, with flooding rains an increasing likelihood in the coming days.
The heavy rain starts in the west Tuesday night, and will roll eastward into Wednesday. That sets off an extended run of showers and storms through the upcoming weekend. Here’s a look at my current rainfall forecast…
I will update that again tonight on WKYT-TV at 11. Until then, here are your tracking tools…
Enjoy the evening and take care.
At least the models are consistent to keep the bulk of the heavy rain out of SE KY considering most are near 10 or more inches for the month so far. It is the western half of the state’s turn to “catch up” to eastern KY folks for record monthly rainfall!

This isn’t going to end well. Even with the lesser amounts, the flooding potential is great and my yard will be a swamp until fall.
This is what happens when Spring and 80 degree temperatures arrives in February.

I remember when Lexington hit 80 degrees in 1996. I was a senior at UK.
The weather the following March was not real snowy but it was nasty cold.
