Good Wednesday, everyone. Rounds of showers and a few thunderstorms are back in the bluegrass state, leading to the threat for more high water. It’s a potent storm system that will also bring gusty winds and the potential for some wraparound flurries as March gets underway on Thursday.
Today’s rain may be locally heavy at times, but I don’t expect it to be all day. You should have several breaks, especially in the north. The heaviest will fall across the south and southeast through Thursday. Some thunderstorms try to enter the mix tonight and early Thursday. My overall rain numbers haven’t changed…
This is likely to become a fairly significant flood event across Tennessee.
As the rain starts to wrap up Thursday afternoon, the winds really begin to crank. Gusts of 40mph will be noted by Thursday afternoon and evening. Those high winds may combine with a wet ground to help uproot a few trees.
Much colder air then comes in by Thursday night, with the potential for a few flurries or snow showers across the east…
That action quickly leaves us on Friday with temps in the upper 40s and low 50s. The weekend looks REALLY good with sunshine and mild conditions.
Another front then makes a run at us on Monday, ushering in a colder pattern for early March…
Let’s get back to tracking the weather on this final day of February. I have you all set to track the flood potential…
I will have updates later today, so check back. Have a wonderful Wednesday and take care.
What happened to our two dry days? Picnic Planners of America will not be pleased!
monday and tuesday was about as dry as you can get under a partly to mostly sunny sky with above normal temps…….at least it was in my part of the world in wayne, wva……about 20 miles south of huntington, wva.
True stuff.
Just gonna move to Florida since this area is plagued with rain, cold, and snow.
At least it’s warm when they have hurricanes.
I think most of it will miss us. Tennessee seems to be getting the most of it. Not as much up here in ky.

Hope you’re right. I’ve had enough rain for a while. My farm is a swamp!
Actually appears GFS was correct as most of the heavy rain is staying completely south of KY…..one of those 1 in 100 times that the GFS is right without the NW shift!
Win!
Agreed 😉
With only 0.01″ to tie or 0.02″ to set the all-time wettest February mark, Lexington should accomplish at least a tie during the 4-5 o’clock time frame, but will likely set the mark.
