Thursday Evening Thoughts

Good evening, folks. For much of the state, it’s been a pretty nice spring day. For southern and southeastern Kentucky, not so much. A southern system is grazing the state with some rain, but the focus going forward is on a weekend shot of chill that can bring frost back into the bluegrass state.

As expected, the evening showers are impacting the areas closest to Tennessee and Virginia. Some of this action sneaks a little farther north into eastern Kentucky later tonight…

Friday’s weather is mainly dry with highs in the 60s, Winds will be gusty, with a slight chance for a shower or storm going up.

This is ahead of a cold front, with a secondary front arriving on Saturday. That one may also spit out a light shower, but it’s unleashing some pretty cold stuff for the end of April…

Check out the well below normal temps showing up through Monday morning…

Temps by Sunday morning can drop below freezing, setting up the potential for a light freeze…

Sunday afternoon looks absolutely gorgeous, but temps will be slow to respond. Highs may not get out of the 50s for parts of central and eastern Kentucky…

That may set us up with another frosty morning on Monday…

Temps will warm into the 70s on Monday, and may push 80 by Tuesday and Wednesday. That’s when a warm southwesterly wind kicks up across our part of the world. Beyond this, things look to become pretty active with showers and storms on the increase as we get closer to Derby weekend…

Strong to severe storms may develop later next week into the big weekend. Following that, temps are likely to go below normal once again.

Enjoy your evening and take care.

Chris, this roller coaster is making me sick… can’t we get off of it please? 😉 At least there’s a little sun in there. If we don’t get our yard mowed soon we will have to bushog it! Have a good night all. Think of us folks here in southern Ky who are still being rained on. 🙁
