Good Sunday to one and all. It’s another day of steamy temps and scattered storms rolling across the bluegrass state. As we track the storms, we are also tracking Alberto down in the Gulf of Mexico. What’s left of this system should move into Kentucky by Wednesday, bringing rain and wind our way.
You know the routine on today’s storms… Some could be a little strong and put down enough rain to cause local high water issues. Any storm that goes up will be packed with lightning, so head indoors as soon as you hear thunder. Outside the storms, temps rise deep into the 80s. Humidity levels make it feel even toastier than that.
For Memorial Day… See above. 🙂
Alberto continues as a Tropical Storm down in the Gulf of Mexico as it heads toward the central Gulf Coast states. The 5 day forecast track continues to bring this into Kentucky as a Tropical Depression…
Current indications favor the greatest risk for heavy rain showing up across central and western parts of the state…
The location of the heaviest rain depends on the exact track of what’s left of Alberto. We will also need to watch for some strong storms to develop to the right of that track.
The models are still very consistent in bringing what’s left of the system right on top of Kentucky. They also dive a second system in right behind it with more showers and storms…

The latest Hurricane Models are tightly clustered on a track across Kentucky…
Let’s get back to the storms we have out there today. I have you all set to do some tracking…
Enjoy your Sunday and take care.
Finally getting a soaking rainfall this morning. My young garden is happy today.
Thanks Chris for the update. Yesterday was a typical summer day with some clouds and sunshine with temperatures in the upper eighties. Rainfall has miss the northern part of Taylor county and I think that will continue through Memorial Day we hope. Tropical Storm Alberto’s path is one to tract over the next couple of days. The exact path of the storm’s depression through the Ohio Valley is still uncertain. Have a great Sunday everyone.
The models keep showing the storm missing eastern KY, like all of the other tropical systems more recent to hit KY, but I don’t see how the NW track is going to play out as the high to the east doesn’t seem to be strong enough to steer it NW? Alberto is already much further east than forecasted position for today this time yesterday.
Thoughts???
So far, the scattered storms have been so scattered, they were non exestant for a lot of Kentucky, or very short drive-by showers. Richmond as example has yet to get a drop over the past several days.
Thanks Chris. We’ve had a couple of short lived showers and some clouds and thunder. But so far, the only thing the weather has interrupted was the site for our Memorial Day weekend church picnic! We moved it to our activity center for this evening due to the possibility of one of those heavy rain and lightning storms causing issues. But that’s fine. We will have a great time. Hoping that any Memorial Day ceremonies are done before getting rained on. Have a restful Sunday all.
