A Cooler Look Follows The Weekend

Good Saturday, everyone. A cold front is working toward the bluegrass state into early Sunday, bringing another round of showers and storms with it. However, the pattern coming in behind this front is much different than where we have been. Much cooler air is on the way for the first full week of June.

Ahead of this front, temps will be deep into the 80s today as winds gust up. Isolated showers and storms will be possible, with lots of dry times showing up. As the front moves closer to western Kentucky, the thunderstorm threat increases later today into tonight. This is also an area to watch for strong to severe storms. Here’s the latest Severe Weather Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center…

This storms will be coming in from northwest to southeast and will roll eastward into early Sunday. That will bring showers and storms to the rest of the state, with better air moving in from west to east later in the day.

Some pockets of heavier rains will show up for areas getting thunderstorms, but some areas may not pick up very much rain. You can clearly see that on the NAM rainfall forecast…

Notice all the heavy rains in the Mid-Atlantic? That’s from a deep system spinning up the east coast, bringing a cooler wind our way. Highs early next week may stay in the 70s. Check out the NAM for Monday afternoon…

Another cold front looks to dive in here by Wednesday, bringing another band of showers and storms…

That may put out region in an area primed for clusters of storms diving in from the west and northwest…

That happens as a heat wave develops around Texas, while the northeast sees a cooler pattern develop. This places our region in between, leading to active weather. Shocking! 😉

Thanks Chris for the update. Late yesterday evening the weather decided to go south on us once again with lightning, thunder and heavy rain. I will be glad when Mother Nature brings us the cooler, drier weather as I am tried of this continuous awful humidity of here lately. Have a great Saturday everyone.
