Good Friday, folks. We have a very ugly looking setup that’s carrying us into the start of the big Easter Weekend. This is coming from a huge upper level low spinning overtop of us through Saturday. This means colder temps, gusty winds and an increase in rain. It may even get cold enough for… GULP… some wet snow for a few folks.
Let’s start with today and roll ahead. Temps will be milder in the east, but all numbers drop as the day wears on and it will be downright cool for many. Gust showers will be noted from time to time, but you’re also going to see many dry hours…
Rain will increase quickly this evening as our upper low strengthens over the area. For areas under the core of the upper low, temps may cool enough for a little wet snow to mix in later tonight or Saturday. The NAM has been all over this for a few days now…
It’s going to be interesting to see if some areas can get some wet snow to fall in this setup. Regardless, some good rains will fall as temps stay cold. Highs may not get out of the 40-45 degree range for central and eastern parts of the state on Saturday.
As the upper low moves away, warmer air quickly surges in for Easter Sunday…
Highs for Easter range from the middle 70s west to near 60 in the far east…
Thermometer readings may head close to 80 into early next week as the overall pattern continues to be skewed warmer than normal.
Have a great Friday and take care.
LOL. Interesting super late, annoying attempt for snow or just mix but about the only area cold enough will likely be the very top of Pine and Black mt! I wouldn’t doubt that those areas get a quick slushy hit but us who live in the valley simply want be cold enough to see it. Looks like summer settles in next week. Next week looks a bit toasty for April to say the least.
Daughter going to prom tonight. This weather is not what we wanted. Can’t get outdoor pictures, worried about all that rain and a long dress, plus it’s going to be cold. The temperature may be okay for the guys in their jackets but the girls are going to freeze. All those nice warm days this week and this happens on prom day, sigh.
Close to an inch of rain already here this morning.
We are getting slammed with some training rain in Harlan Co. as well.
You can have it I have 0.4 at my house for the day
