Good Saturday, folks. Our significant flood and flash flood threat continues for much of the bluegrass state. Our region has already been drenched in the past few days, with numerous areas seeing flooding issues. Additional rounds of showers and storms will only make things worse.
Many areas have already picked up 1″-6″ of rain since Wednesday, so we can’t hold any more. Unfortunately, we have a lot more to go through Monday. Several more inches of rain will show up during this time, leading to flooding and flash flooding.
Here are your tracking tools for the day…
A cold front will FINALLY sweep this mess to our east by Tuesday, leaving us with cool and dry air. But, another system is going to dive in later Wednesday and Thursday and this one has more of a cold season look to it…
That can produce some very gusty and cool showers into Thursday and early Friday. Temps with this may struggle to even get much beyond the 70 degree mark. Look at how much of the country sees below normal temps next week…
Summer is overrated anyway! 🙂
Have a great Saturday and take care.
Summer is not overrated. This current weather is garbage.
So is Wally World. LOL
My cheap rain gauge in the back yard has picked up nearly four inches of rain the last 36 hours or so 🙁 . Glad we’re on relatively high ground, but still lots of deep puddles where there is normally just gr@ss growing. Flood issues galore were reported on the local 10pm news, but for now at this very early hour no rain falling in Nashville.
Also, fresh lightning strikes are currently popping up at this early hour near Lexington KY, Knoxville TN and Chattanooga TN.
Looks like there going to have to start loading people in the Ark this time in stead of animals in Williamstown Ky with all this rain. Here in Southern Ohio we have missed out on most of it for now.
The Ark is out of commission due to water damaged. (Lol)
Well I guess that rules that out. Lol.
I don’t know how much rain has falling in my backyard ? Rain gauge is broken. If I purchase a new gauge maybe the rain will stop. LOL
Sun is out in Harlan with a huge complex to my south and southwest slowing moving towards KY…not good! I missed most of the rain last night but came in at an inch yesterday.
Thanks Chris. Wouldn’t you know it…installed a pool this week for exercise purposes. Took three days to get it filled, had to let about 3 inches out last night!!! So far today it’s dry and we have some sunshine. With the help of that and a solar blanket, hopefully we can get in it at some point soon! Be safe and stay weather alert my friends. Have a great Saturday! P.S. we’ve had 2.5 so far at our house in Somerset but that looks to change at some point looking at they radar.
Have not seen any 6″ amounts at NWS or Mesonet stations. Casey county is just a tad over 5″. Doesn’t matter. Several areas of Kentucky have seen too much rain over a short period of time and has been well documented by social media showing flash flooding.
I’m at 2.35″ since the 5th.
Harlan mesonet has already topped 40 inches and slightly ahead of last year on the annual-to-date. I am also slightly ahead of last year at 33.39 in but most of the rain was in January and February down here as March through May was slightly below average. Now, June looks to go back above average. I am at 2.72 for the month through this morning!
Though not complaining, I can’t recall this long a stretch for Richmond to not get a few big storms. Seems two years of wimpy weather- sans the heavy rains of course. No big storms though, regardless of season, since have gone all around us. Hopefully not case of weather payback at some point.
