Good evening, folks. It’s already been a super active weather day with major hail producing thunderstorms going up across central and eastern Kentucky. Now we focus our attention to the main event that shows up later this evening into the wee hours of Thursday.
Damaging wind is the primary threat from our line of storms racing in from the west and northwest. These storms, and any storms ahead of them, can also be major hail producers. There’s also the potential for a few tornadoes to spin up along the line. Those are often very hard to detect, so there may not me much lead time ahead of them.
I have you all set to track the action…
Possible Watch Areas
Have a great evening and take care.
Is that a Derecho coming out of IL into IN and then into KY? Anyone? Buehler? Buehler? Bailey? Bailey?
My daughter lives in Indianapolis and they had a tornado warning about 30-45 min ago. She said it was nasty there.
Laughable the radar in Louisville went out at 9pm. I hope this wasn’t a scheduled maintenance that they went ahead with despite a line of severe thunderstorms approaching.
Sirens went off in Richmond well in advance.
That’s quite a nasty line of storms heading for Eastern Kentucky. That same line originated in Northern Indiana through Central Illinois. It’s held together and maintained its strength for several hours.
There’s also a strong cluster of storms south of Nashville.
