Good evening, gang. It’s awesome out there and we have one more day of aweseomness to throw your way. That’s before some big weekend changes blow into town, giving us the potential for strong to severe storms across much of the region.
My overall thoughts on the whole setup have not changed. Temps on Friday can make a run at 80 as southwesterly winds crank. This is ahead of a bowling ball in the atmosphere that rolls across the state late this weekend. It will throw one line of strong to severe storms into western Kentucky by Friday night. Here’s the SPC severe storms risk for Friday…
That line likely weakens as it rolls eastward into Saturday morning, but additional showers and storms develop late Saturday and carry us into Sunday. The Storm Prediction Center has a low-end severe risk across the Ohio Valley, but this may be underdone…
Damaging winds will be the primary threat from any severe thunderstorm action. High winds may also be common as our cold front sweeps eastward, dropping our temps throughout the day on Sunday. A strong northwesterly wind flow may cause rain and snow showers to develop on Monday…
Temps rebound quickly after Monday.
Enjoy your evening and take care.
Thanks for the update Chris. I can deal with the rain and storms, but can we please tell winter that it has outstayed it’s welcome? How do we go about that? Looks like tomorrow will be a great day. From the sound of it, we’d better make the best of it. Enjoy the evening everyone.
Old Man Winter always fights dirty before going away for about 6 months. 😛
IDK, if the Severe threat amplifies in Areas like Alabama, you can just about forget any Severe weather for Central Kentucky. Moisture and energy will be robbed.
