Saturday Snow Showers

Good Saturday and welcome to the weekend. Snow showers, flurries, sun, clouds, cold and wind are all on tap across the bluegrass state today. This is how we jump start a very cold mid February weekend.

The snow showers of today will kick into high gear during the afternoon and evening and be more prominent across the eastern half of the state. Local “flizzard” conditions are possible as the snows come down hard for a brief period. This may cause some minor accumulations and can cause a few slick spots.

Temps today will be in the upper 20s for many, with low 30s in the south and west. Here’s your weekend dose of tracking toys…

Current Temperatures

Winds today will make it feel much colder than what the thermometer shows. Sunday will see more in the way of sunshine returning. Temps will start in the teens and finish in the high 20s and low 30s.

A storm system will roll across the plains states on Monday and work into the Great Lakes by Tuesday. This will drag a cold front across the state and lead to very gusty winds. Temps will hit the 50s on Monday then fall quickly into the 30s Tuesday as the front passes.

Widespread showers will accompany this front and some of those may end as a period of light snow as the colder air moves in…

GFS

That’s a pretty good shot of cold moving in behind that storm and will be in place when the next storm rolls our way by Thursday. That one looks very messy across our part of the world.

Have a great Saturday and take care.
