Good Thursday, everyone. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms get cranking across our region today and this could bring the threat for strong and severe storms. That potential will really ramp up later tonight and into Friday. Overall, this is part of a pattern that has severe weather written all over it in the coming weeks.
Here’s a breakdown of what to expect:
– Scattered showers and storms develop across the region from west to east today. Some of the late day storms across central and western Kentucky could be strong or severe. This is NOT a washout of a day.
– Winds will continue to crank today and could reach 35mph at times.
– Showers and thunderstorms will increase late tonight and into Friday. Severe thunderstorms with high winds and hail will be possible. Gusty winds of 40mph will be common.
– Heavy rains through Friday night could cause some high water issues. Many of the forecast models are suggesting 1″-3″ of rain during this time.
– Chilly and dry weather moves in for Saturday with temps in the low and mid 50s. Easter Sunday looks good with 30s to start and 60s to end.
– Watch the pattern for next week! It has the look of a severe weather producer on more than one day.
I have you all set to track today’s showers and storms…

Current watches
I will have updates as needed. Take care.
NORMAL WEATHER!!! Who would have thunk it? (Cue all the complainers about severe weather!!)
“Thunk.”
Teehee 🙂
EXTREEEEEEEEEEME WEATHER!!!!!!! I’m not saying I want damaging weather to happen to anyone, but lord knows it will somewhere. Now we just have to wait for the news to pick it apart, like they always do…
Btw, I’m with Virgil, it’s normal weather, but after the media gets through with it, it usually isnt.
Definitely ready for some storms… Will these storms continue into the overnight hours?
“Bar Weather (normal)” – def. (3) when you are in a bar and you see two drunk guys trying to start arguments with non-existent or non-participatory people about nothing of consequence.
I much prefer warmer weather even if it means a few storns.
Hail in lewis county
I hate the hail! To me that’s the scariest…and wind. I love the colors of spring, but I sure do dread the storms.
I hope the tornados stay away from Ky this year. I am so scared when we have tornado watches.
Me too. It used to kind of excite me but it freaks me out now. Not sure why I changed my mentality. I mean, I love storms, but the kind that can kill you – no thanks!
The odds of dying in a tornado are 1 in 60,000. Don’t sweat it too much.
1 in 60000!? That’s still too good of chance for me…no thanks :/
Have not seen anything in Louisville except a little bit of rain.
Damaging hail near St Matthews in Louisville…1.25 to 1.75″ hail.
It’s windier outside than the average Bill Meck segment.
