Good Friday, everyone. Our big Easter weekend is kicking off on a rather chilly note out there today. While things will turn better over the next few days, the overall setup for the next few weeks continues to take on a very ugly look across much of the country.

Clouds are going to be tough to break across central and eastern Kentucky today. This action will help keep temps in the 40s for some areas. A morning sprinkle or snowflake is possible.

Saturday starts with a touch of frost, but ends with plenty of sun and temps in the 60s.

Easter Sunday is mainly dry with readings closing in on 70 degrees. Late day showers and thunderstorms will increase from west to east and carry us into early Monday.

Temps through the middle of next week look very warm. We could see a few days wind up into the mid and upper 70s for highs. That’s when we flip the calendar to April and a MUCH colder look. We’re likely to get a storm system to work in to bring about that setup…

The simple fact any model is seeing enough cold for that is astounding for this time of year.

What about the rest of April? The CFS…

CFS

That would indicate a very stormy month from our region into the deep south. It also shows temps winding up slightly below normal. Given how cold week one is, one could assume the pattern turns pretty warm later in the month.

Make it a great Friday and take care.
