Good evening, gang. We are rolling our way into the weekend with milder air rolling back into the bluegrass state. This air will lead us into another busy weather week taking shape for next week, with some models taking on more of a winter look.
Temperatures will soar into the 50s on Saturday, but watch the northeast early on for a few snowflakes. That’s on the nose of warmer air sweeping in here for the rest of the weekend. Highs by Sunday hit the 60s.
A shower or storm is possible on Monday as southwesterly winds kick in. Those winds will be ahead of a potent cold front arriving on Tuesday with a line of showers and storms…
Seasonally chilly air moves in behind that system, but the European Model now takes on a full blown winter look by Friday and Saturday…
Check out the cold air with that system…
Ouch.
That’s part of the whole back and forth temperature pattern on the European Model. Check it out…
The control run of the European Ensembles supports the cold pattern for next weekend…
The GFS Ensembles are not buying what the European Model is selling. It’s MUCH warmer…
Have a great evening and take care.
Thanks Chris. Never a dull moment in Kentuckys weather is there? Have a great Friday evening all.
So what do you think Chris? Does the Euro or GFS make more sense at this point? What fits the pattern?
The Euro actually does make sense, I wouldn’t ignore the Euro. It just has no friends as of yet in the model world.
The six day model verification has been abysmal recently for all the models. One can hope but realistically this seems very unlikely.
That said, if Chris shows it he must have good reasons, and I’m not questioning that. Have a great evening and weekend all!
This run of warm temperatures is unprecedented in the 140 year or so history of weather records in this area. Winter 2016, Spring 2016, Summer 2016, Autumn 2016, and now Winter 2017 were among the ten warmest recorded on record. That is five straight! Until something changes this pattern, I would think that warmer than normal is a good way to think!
