Good Tuesday, everyone. We have a really, really nice weather day on tap across our part of the world, but all eyes are on another big rain maker rolling in. This arrives Wednesday and will bring another heavy rain and flood threat to much of Kentucky.
Highs out there today reach the 60s with clouds thickening up during the afternoon and evening. This is ahead of another potent system working into the Ohio Valley for Wednesday and Thursday. This puts the bluegrass state back into a zone of heavy rain…
Here’s a look at my current thoughts on rainfall…
I would imagine flood watches will be issued soon for much of the region…
In addition to the heavy rain threat, winds are going to become a big player on Thursday. That’s when our low pressure deepens and works to our northeast, potentially giving us gusts of 40mph or greater…
Given the wet ground, those winds could cause easily uproot a few trees.
Colder winds blow into early Friday, with an outside shot of a few flakes in the eastern Mountains. That leads us into a VERY nice weekend as temps turn milder and we hang on to dry weather.
Winter weather tries to show up in the pattern after that…
I will have updates later. Make it a good one and take care.
Flood watches now up for a good part of TN. It will be up to Jackson if SE KY ends up under one or not later today….should be!
Thanks Chris, Enjoy the beautiful weather today everyone. We will worry about what’s ahead tomorrow.

IIRC, Murray KY had an EF3 tornado only about two years ago on the outskirts of town.
It was actually Mayfield KY that had the EF3 in May 2016, not Murray.
To update, the KY tornado count for Feb 24 2018 is now up to 12 with an EF1 being confirmed in Butler County.
Until last Feb 24 in Logan County, the state of KY had gone since the infamous March 2 2012 outbreak without a tornado fatality.
Make that 13 KY tornadoes as of late tonight Feb 27. NWS Paducah now has 7 KY tornadoes (and one in Missouri) while NWS Louisville has 6.
No KY tornadoes at this time by any of the other NWS offices that cover KY.
So how many tornadoes did we end up having in the state on Saturday?
My earlier post that touched on this question is awaiting approval. The post links to various NWS offices about Saturday’s weather. Perhaps having multiple URL links caused the post to be flagged by the robomod.
