Good Friday to one and all. Summertime continues to put in some overtime as our warm and humid pattern continues through early October. This muggy air is also being accompanied by a few showers and thunderstorms into the upcoming weekend. That said, changes are brewing next week as the pattern starts to flip around with a boost from the tropics.
We have a front stalled across the state today, but it’s heading back to the north as a warm front. This will keep scattered showers and storms going up…
The weekend continues to look warm and humid as temps stay in the 80s for highs. A few showers and storms will go up from time to time. With all the humidity, don’t be surprised to see a cloudburst or two showing up in a few spots.
Things get interesting in a hurry next week as our cold in the west starts to finally head east. This does so at the exact same time most models develop a tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico. Those two have a chance of hooking up in our part of the world, bringing the chance for another dose of tropical rains our way.
The Canadian Model was the first to suggest the idea and it keeps rolling with it…
The new version of the GFS is also showing something similar…
Obviously, we have some time to watch and see how this setup evolves over the next week. There is the potential for a good amount of rain to fall during the middle and end of next week, unleashing the real deal fall feel.
Have a great Friday and take care.
Bring on the fall feel!!!
Thanks Chris. We just hit the Florida line headed for the east coast side. Hope whatever develops doesn’t spoil the week ahead like Matthew did a couple of years ago. Still keeping an eye on things at home though. Have a great Friday everyone!
I blame the CoffeeLady for this late summer heat well into autumn as she didn’t want the cool weather predicted back in late August by CFS lol☺
Just joking as I know you want the seasons to be seasons but we basically only have 6 months of summer and 6 months of winter anymore.
I hope you are on the east coast of Florida as I think that area is not affected by that awful algae Red Tide. My sister lives in Venice on the Gulf side and told me last week that the Red Tide is destroying the economy in that area of Florida. She told me that the air smells like dead fish and the beach is closed.
I like the first weather model on your blog this morning. It’s more Fall like. But as we all know this model will not pan out. But, it is fun to look at and hope. I think the current weather pattern governed by a stubborn high pressure will be with us until the weather in the Atlantic changes ? No one knows when that will be ?
Do we all know Schroeder? I’m glad you speak for all of us in what we all know. Just say you don’t agree with Chris and move on.
This large high pressure system located over the southeast US is built high into the upper levels of the atmosphere is being block and held at bay by Tropical Storm Leslie in the central Atlantic and Tropical Storm Sergio in the Pacific. Very warm surface sea temperatures in the mid to high eighties dominate a large area of ocean from west Africa to southeast Asia. This is something I have never seen before. In the Caribbean, numerous thunderstorms are developing. #climatechangeevent
It’s the end of the world, Schroeder. Prepare accordingly.
Perhaps turn off your Internet access and go live in a deep cave. Climate change and the thunderstorms in the Caribbean are a harbinger of the dark times ahead.
