Hi everyone! It’s another hot one our there across Kentucky, but that looks like it will be changing over the next few days as we get a cold front to move into the area. After that… we focus our attention on the leftovers of Fay… uh… I mean the storm we no longer speak of. ![]()
I have all sorts of maps for you to check out. I finally have them set up so they will update everytime a new image comes in. Each time you check back with us… you will see updated radar and sat maps.![]()
Here is a look at the stuff from the south that will turn our way in a few days.![]()
Satellite shots show that some of the clouds from that storm in the south are actually making their way into Kentucky!

Scattered showers and storms will be with us from late Sunday into Monday. Locally heavy downpours will be possible in the tropical atmosphere.
Things may really get tropical here from Tuesday through Thursday with the leftovers of our tropical storm. The models are looking good right now for some much needed rains around here…
GFS Rainfall Tue-Thu

That would surely be a welcome sight!
Great extended discussion sat morning from the NWS in Jackson! Louisville decided to only look at one model run and take it as the gospel! Not good guys… especially when dealing with a tropical system when the models bounce around with tracks… especially the GFS.
MUCH cooler weather is also in store for next week as well!!!
I will update again later this weekend so make sure you check back for that and to check out the latest radar and sat shots.
Take care.
Can this website get anymore interesting? With all the bells & whistles, I’m ecstatic, lol. Thanks a million Chris, now I really don’t need to go anywhere else for up to the minute weather.
Well, it’s about time that “nameless storm” made it’s way up here, my yard and garden have almost turned to dust!!! Thanks a million Chris, for all the hard work and extra time that you put into this site!!!
Thanks Chris…hopefully the nameless storm will bring us a GOOD soaking rain…Knott County has told its water customers to curtail non-essential use. Several counties have outdoor burn bans. PRAY for rain.
I think I need about a week of steady slow rain to do anything with my completely dead yard. I know we were in a much worse drought last year, but my yard never looked this bad.
Hmm…looks like the weather in lower Michigan is going to get interesting today. Lots of very heavy rain up there. Hail also a possible threat? Hmm….
Guess we’ll wait and get a full report from SPC first. 🙂
Course, until then I will check out the UA maps.
Fay still moving northwest…and I’m awaiting the turn to the north and then northeast. Give it a couple of days and she’ll be through central and eastern Tennessee and Kentucky! 🙂

I am literally choking on dust here on our farm… Everytime a breeze blows and gets the dust stirring. We need rain so, so bad. However, I don’t want it heavy and all at once, or it will just run off here in the mountains. Need it slow and soaking.
In the winter, when we have a big snow, I always love to walk out in the yard and hear the crisp steps below my feet. Seems like it’s not so soothing today! I think I could bale some straw!!
Hello,
Keep up the good work, I normally just read but I decided to write words of encouragement today.
Good Job
Be Well
Chris I love the maps that updates awesome!!!!! I forgot what rain looks like lol!!!!!!!!
I took this statement from accuweather with talks of the high blocking. does that mean we get in on the rain? it sounds like it.
The new high blocking Fay from moving quickly will press into the Northeast by midweek; this will create a steering flow that will push Fay to the northeast. So once again, Fay will continue in a dizzying path through this week.
The jog to the north will spread flooding rain into the Tennessee Valley. Some of the Southeast’s hardest-hit drought zone will receive beneficial rainfall.
I really wish some rain would find Kentucky. Everything is starting to be really dry. Chris this site is awesome. Thank you so much for your dedication.
I agree! No way can I walk through the yard barefoot! I think it looked better last year to tell you the truth. There’s a line that’s formed neat Louisville at this hour. I hope it makes it here without drying up.
Sure wish it would rain here today. My air has gone out and it’s tremendously stuffy, even with the windows up. Need something to cool off with! A thunderstorm would lower the outside temperature to more bearable levels.
Here’s a little excerp from the farmers almanac. It’s knida fun to see what they say.
The almanac predicts above-normal snowfall for the Great Lakes and Midwest, especially during January and February, and above-normal precipitation for the Southwest in December and for the Southeast in January and February. The Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions will likely have an unusually wet or snowy February, the almanac said.
