Hello everyone and welcome to your Friday! As we head into a hot and humid weekend across Kentucky, you wanted for me to talk a little winter stuff. You are tired of hearing about “THAT” storm so I promised you a little of the cold weather season stuff.
Since I aim to please I pulled up some loooooong range maps for you from one of our seasonal models that likes to guess the weather from way out. This is the same model that was showing some October flakes a few weeks ago. Here are a couple of the highlights I found for you for November and December.
It still likes the idea of some early season snow and cold… this run has it coming the first weekend of November…
My post titled Christmas In July showed some interesting happenings for that BIG December day. The latest run shows it to be a a little more tame, but with some possibilities…
This is just a sampling of some of the stuff I will be throwing at you in the coming weeks and months. After Labor Day… I really start cranking out the fall and winter stuff and that time is fast approaching. I will also be doing more “Blast From The Pasts”!
Just a reminder once again… if you want to leave comments… do so under www.kyweathercenter.com ! The other web address has some bugs in it but they are from the same exact site. Also… since school is underway and some folks may not have gotten the message about my me leaving WKYT and starting this blog… spread the word so we can get the whole gang back together again!
Of course we want plenty of new family members too! ![]()
Before I go… I have to show you some stuff on the storm which we do not speak of!
Here are some images of that stubborn storm that will automatically update for you…![]()
BTW… the tropics are going to explode over the next few weeks. Look for more hurricane threats to the US in addition to the storm we do not speak of… which may throw some rain our way next week.
Stay cool on this hot Friday and I will update later. Take care!

I am tired of Fay too! However, it seems to be in my forcast here in Jacksonville for untill Sunday, ahh! Love seeing the Winter hints even though they don’t apply to me. 🙁
Fay is giving us right now the fastest wind we have seen and the hardest rain we have seen as well.
Hope you can get some rain from Fay!
Jake
Try to stay dry Jake! Back in KY we’re all beggin’ for your leftovers.
Have a good Friday all!
There’s that darn pink sky again this morning. Maybe we will get 7-8 drops of rain today instead of the 5-6 we got yesterday. lol 😉
Thanks Chris for the update on the unspeakable storm…and the winter preview.
thats 5 or 6 more than i got TB
The flip side to the dryness is that we don’t have to mow as often- not a bad thing in this heat 🙂 But even our dogs are hoping for cool breezes soon…they’re with you, Chris, and love the snow!
Thanks Chris for the winter appetizer! I must admit that I love the crisp fall days and can’t wait for them either! When their is a nip in the air, I can’t wait to start decorating for the holidays!!!! For now, the only I am looking forward to is the one that I’m gonna take out of the dog for digging up the yard……………
Thanks Chris for the update and a tease on the cold weather. Hopefully, we can manage some respectable amounts of the white stuff this season. I already have my cohorts at work cursing me because I’m talking about winter weather already. This summer stuff is so boring though. It would be nice for us winter weather lovers to have it our way just for once.
OH ITS HOT OUTSIDE !!! 🙁 I thought we were gonna get to miss out on this HOT DRY miserable stuff this yr. but I guess not..
I hope we can get some rain soon its starting to get really dusty and dry down here in the Cumberland Valley area. September is just right around the corner though and I have seen frost in Late September before..so cooler days are right around the corner..THANK GOODNESS !!!
could this be the yr. for ” THE BIG ONE”. I guess that depends on what the big one is..LOL…LOL… I’M TALKING ABOUT SNOW !!!…LOL..
F** was once the storm with no name, now it is the storm that shall not be named.
Like it or not, though it is going to be around a while longer.
Fay may seem like a pleasant memory by next week, though. Invest 94 is just east of the Lesser Antilles and the models have it on an “Ivan” like track, south of Cuba and into the Gulf. The models are bullish on its intensity. Something that bears watching.
I notice that usually here if the summers are bone dry……Sept and Oct turn out wet, even though they are normally the drier months in this area. Something I’ve noticed.
You talk about meteorological Winter being DEC JAN FEB….And Summer is June July August….Is Meteorological Fall September Oct and Nov?
I have become a loyal fan of kyweathercenter.com from now on in.
Nothing against a fine man like TG, but updates are slow in coming & WSAZ takes forever also. Chris has that energy we look for; gets excited & tells us what’s happening. I appreciated it, Chris. Thanks
