Good Friday, everyone. Our summer of storms continues to throw rounds of boomers across the bluegrass state. The overall pattern shows very little sign of letting up over the next few weeks. As a matter of fact, there’s a chance it ramps it up a notch with some tropical moisture getting into the mix. Sigh.
Storms early today can drop some very heavy rains across the eastern part of the state. After that, steamy temperatures take control with a break in the action. That will set the stage for more showers and storms to develop from northwest to southeast this afternoon and evening.
That action is ahead of a cold front that looks to bring additional storms in here on Saturday…
Heavy rainfall is a good possibility with theses storms, so additional local flooding issues may develop.
There is some good news in all this. Sunday’s weather looks very, very nice at the moment. Low and middle 80s with lower humidity levels and mainly dry weather. Wow!
The fin won’t last long as a storm or two moves back in late Monday, with an increase in the action to follow that. Juice from the Gulf may stream northward into the region…
Something tropical is going to try and develop in the northern Gulf later next week. That’s something to watch for as additional storms stream in here late in the week…
This is a VERY active pattern that continues.

Have a great day and take care.
When I left the grocery last pm the air was so humid it felt like I was breathing through warm dryer lint. Not good. Looking towards fall and much lower dewpoints.
I agree! You know it’s bad when you don’t even want to go outside to get in the pool:)
We need ‘pools’ full of desert air to relax in.
I’m interested in a discussion of any precedent for this summer. It seems to be slightly above average in both temps and rain. The last few summers have been wet but cool and the two or three before that were hot and dry. What precedent is there for this hot and wet summer we’re having?
Something else worth pointing out is that the rains have come fairly steadily, not a whole lot at once with long dry spells between. Same with the temps – not many days in the upper 90s but a long stretch of days in the low 90s and lows not going below 70. Just some thoughts about the overall pattern.
So far it’s actually the 10th hottest summer in Louisville. Reason for that is the extremely warm nights with temps not dropping out of the 70’s.
Low temps! Yes, this always gets ignored both topically and mathematically (here and every else) as if it doesn’t have any bearing and it’s just as important as it goes to what it’s like when people are trying to sleep. Look at all of the times we’ve had “cooler than normal temps” when all that meant was the high temp was a degree or two below normal but the low temp was equivalently higher or more to offset it. It’ll still be peddled as a “cooling trend” every time, never ceases to amaze me.
I don’t recall that were experiencing such a high dew pts and humid air like we have this summer. I wonder this type of weather is saying what we may experience this winter. A Harsh winter like we had back in the 70’s
Heat index 105-110 all across west ky.. Dang it’s down right nasty today.
