Good Friday to one and all. Meteorological summer is certainly going out with a bang with an impressive late season surge of heat and humidity. This action is likely to carry us into the first few days of September. As this happens, we watch the tropics to see what, if any, impact they can have on our weather.
Temps today will generally hit the lower 90s in many areas with a heat index from 95-100 degrees. That’s gonna leave a mark for those working outside. High school football fans will also have to deal with very steamy conditions.
Isolated showers and storms are also possible.
This same forecast continues into the weekend, with a littler better chance for some scattered storms going up. The models continue to spit out a few decent totals into early next week…
From there, it’s all about what happens in the tropics and our potential troublemaker, the future Hermine. The models continue to jump around with what the heck to do with this storm, and where to take it.
The Canadian…
The much longer loop of the GFS shows quite the looping storm…
The GFS has been terrible lately, and the above run looks to be one of the craziest solutions it’s come up with in a long while.
Your tracking tools for the day…
Have a great Friday and take care.
Although the GFS is probably the ring leader, other models have been really bad lately too. Like last week, we were suppose to have reach the lower 50s down here in SEKY but I only had 3 nights around 60, which was still a break but not what should have been. Also, I have only had 2.67 inches of rain in Harlan for August, which is also a good thing since earlier summer was so wet…but, the models have shown that by now, we should have received about 10 inches down in my neck of the woods. It really has been difficult to follow any model this year for sure!!!
GFS= Going For Stupid
That GFS run had me literally lol ing! Around and around and around and around it goes! HA! I’m not ready for cool temps….give me the heat for as long as you like!!
Bring on Fall and my favorite time WINTER
Bring back the weather we had last Sunday. Do NOT bring on WINTER! 😉
I’ll gladly take winter, just not all the snow at once.
Agree – forecasts last two weeks have been way off in terms of calling for rain and flooding rains at that. In the winter we would be calling these busts and invoking “the dome” but I guess we’re more forgiving in the summer. : )
94 in Lexington today for an air temp. Dewpoint held into the Upper 60’s so “feels like” temps were not much higher.
We haven’t been above 95 degrees since the Summer of 2012.
