Good Saturday to one and all. We are rolling into the first weekend of November with some awesome weather rolling across Kentucky. The air out there is much closer to normal, and will continue as we head into the first half of next week. After that, the changes begin.
The models have been pretty much all over the place with how the changes start next week. That said, we are seeing some similarities showing up between the GFS and European models.
The GFS is back to bringing a cold front across the state Election Night, with a small scale cutoff feature swinging in on Wednesday…
That would actually be a decent shot of chilly air if for Wednesday and Thursday if it plays out like that. A very cold shot of air then dives in from the northwest late Friday into Saturday…
That run of the GFS even shows some very light, wintry precipitation one week from today…
Check out how far below normal the numbers the GFS shows for next weekend…
The European Model has a similar overall look with this cold blast…
If you’re playing along at home. All of this is happening during the second week of November. Week 3 of November continues to show a deepening trough developing across the eastern part of the country…
(Insert evil weather laugh here) 🙂
Make it a great day and take care.
Lexington dropped below 36 this morning for the first official fall frost. The “latest” first on record was November 9, 1922. So we didn’t break that record!
Yeah I got some frost in SW Jefferson County in Louisville this morning myself. It was the first frost of the season in my neck of the woods not sure it’ll be a official frost by the NWS in Louisville since I live in the county and not in the city.
I believe the pattern change will happen and bring much colder air into region later in the month as all of the indicators are there but will it be quick enough and last long enough for us to not have a possible top 10 warmest November?
Well whatever happens with cold, to correlate your point about it being warm this year, this is the longest I recall have the central air on and no heat.
Wow it looks and feels like the Smoky Mountains around our house this morn. We’re looking forward to the changes.
Cool info Chris Mercer, thanks!
Go Big Blue!
We were there last week and my son was able to swim roof pool at the Margaritaville Hotel. It was upper 80s and upper 60s at night for the Halloween party at the square.
Guess my last comment got lost on cyber space?
