Good evening, folks. Heavy rain continues to slowly pull away from the bluegrass state and now we turn our attention toward… Wait for it… Wait for it… Another round of spring snows. Our brief shot of winter will be with us later tonight and into Monday.

Colder winds continue to sweep the rain to our east, but watch for rain and snow showers to develop to our northwest later this evening…

That action will sweep in here overnight, with mainly snow showers and flurries taking over. That lasts into Monday as strong northwesterly winds crank behind a massive storm system…

Some light coatings are possible on elevated surfaces, but most of the flakes should be melting. Highs on Monday will only be in the upper 30s and low 40s, but wind chills may stay below freezing for much of the day… That would be the 16th day of April. Sigh.

Another hard freeze is on the way for Monday night and Tuesday morning as temps drop into the middle and upper 20s. Milder winds will boost afternoon temps into the 60s for most areas, setting the stage for a windy and mild Wednesday…

Those 70s are in front of another cold front dropping in Wednesday night. That may touch off scattered showers and storms, but the big news will be the temp drop coming behind it. Highs on Thursday may be nearly 30 degrees colder…

Temps will rebound a bit behind that to start the weekend, but another slow-moving storm looks to roll across the region. Here’s an animation showing both systems to impact our weather over the next week…

Again, this pattern continues to skew colder than normal through the rest of the month.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and take care.
