Good evening, folks. I only have a short amount of time to spit out an update, so let’s get after it. The post in a nutshell… I have no real changes to the thoughts I’ve been putting out since the weekend. 🙂
Showers and storms continue to blow up this evening and they are putting down a ton of rain to go along with lots of lightning. Watch the creeks and streams…
Friday will find a front draped across the region with tropical moisture continuing to stream into the region. This action will team up to produce more waves of showers and storms that can cause additional flash flood issues.
As we roll into the weekend, what’s left of Gordon works into the Ohio Valley and will drag a cold front across the state. Heavy rain producing showers and storms are a good bet through Sunday and even into Monday. The WPC seems to have a good handle with the rainfall numbers showing up during this time…
The greatest threat for flooding across the northern half of the state, but the local flash flood threat is area-wide.
This system will also tug down cooler air with a nice run of highs in the 70s this weekend into early next week. Unfortunately, additional rounds of showers and storms will carry us into next week.
From there, it’s all about what happens with Hurricane Florence…
This system will roll toward the east coast and may very well impact the coast, but that’s certainly a long way from being a sure thing. The European Model continues to advertise the biggest hit…
As always, we shall see.
Enjoy your evening and take care.
Still waiting on something other than Thunder.
Bone dry at my house for the first time this year. I have not had an inch of rain since August 12th! It is funny how the Mts can enhance the rain/snow in winter but generally shears storms apart or away from Harlan area during the spring/summer season timeframe. Every once and a while, we get a lot of storms in summer, like back in June. Harlan just does not fit in with the overall Ohio Valley weather pattern, even though still barely grouped within the region!
