Good Friday everyone. We have a much drier and calmer weather day in store for the bluegrass state. This is good news for those folks cleaning up from the rounds of severe storms that blew through here on Thursday. Those storms brought high winds and super sized hail to much of southern Kentucky.
Things today look pretty tranquil with a mix of sun and clouds. Temps will range from the high 50s in the far north to the low 70s in the far west and south. One temperature forecast does not fit all. 🙂
A warm front swings back through here later tonight and early Saturday and this may touch off a scattered shower or thunderstorm. Readings on Saturday will warm up with 70s likely for many areas. This will be ahead of a cold front that moves in late in the day into Saturday evening with more showers and storms. Some of these storms could be strong or severe and that’s something for us to watch.
A little cooldown will be with us on Sunday, but the name of the weather game next week is warm. Take a look at the temp forecast from the GFS…
The 80s will be likely for much of next week as humidity levels increase. Scattered showers and thunderstorms may become common with this type of setup.
The overall pattern looks well above normal for much of the country…
Have a great Friday and take care.
hey Bailey, whats DERBY WEEKEND weather looking like?
Really wanting to know the weather forecast for Saturday. I’d like to go to the Rolex event, but don’t want to pay the money if it’s going to rain. I did that when I was younger, but getting too old to slog around in the rain these days… just no fun.
Love the word “warmer” in your post. Ready for some of that!
Faye, i was wondering the same thing.
what time does the rain look like it might start? barring any longs holds on cross country, everything should be wrapped up by 4. i hope it does not rain before that. i was a fence judge in 2002 when it started raining at the lunch break and did not stop. i was 8 months pregnant!! it was miserable.
I was there that year too. Absolutely miserable weather, and I ended up watching the competition on TV, inside a tent while it poured outside. I can’t imagine sitting outside at a fence in your condition.
Just read this again…simply incredible.
