Good evening, folks. Our first arctic front is crossing the state this evening, bringing bitterly cold temps and a period of snow to parts of the region. The next arctic front moves in Tuesday night with another period of light snow and dangerously cold temps and wind chills.
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for many areas of the region tonight and early Tuesday. Some offices expanded the advisory while others pulled back a bit…
This isn’t a lot of snow by any means, but it may be just enough to cause slick travel conditions later tonight and early Tuesday. That’s especially true with wet roads that can freeze up as temps drop into the teens. Wind chills will be in the single digits by morning.
The next front arrives Tuesday evening and should produce a band of gusty light snows. That may also cause a few travel issues at times.
Temps absolutely tank and winds crank behind this. That’s a dangerous combination for wind chills. Our in house WSI RPM computer model has some off the charts wind chill numbers on Wednesday. These numbers haven’t been seen around here since late February of 2015…

Thanks Chris. Hope we change over to snow before we get too much rain. Don’t want ice! Will be watching for updates. Ha e a good evening everyone.
So far this has been a dud of a winter as far as snow totals. I was hoping for a good snowstorm of a foot or more but I guess we’ll see what happens the rest of the winter.
Whoever’s ancestor prayed to the Snow Gods for that hedge of snow protection over Madison County, it’s working! ♀️
Alerts to the left of me, advisories to the right – here I am, stuck in the midddle . . .
Nah, we are probably just in debt for three record snows a few years ago 😉 Those were nuts!
Not everyone just you 😉
Yes. I loved them all!
I know this is crazy, but I am going to go out on a limb, and suggest that Friday’s system will fall as rain. (lol)
If we got several inches of snow, we would easily be below zero. Not a fan of that.
Although, the snow would insulate exposed pipes
That would have to be a bigger snow than a few inches 😉 We are not getting either, so no harm no foul.
What about south central kentucky?:) is it calling for snow?!
What does the pink area mean on the first map?

CB, I’d shut down the comments for a while. People acting like it’s your fault we aren’t receiving any snow. Grow up. Nobody honestly cares what all you negative model watchers have to say. Nothing but negativity and sarcasm. Will always follow KWC. Have since nearly a decade ago. Don’t comment a lot but visit every day, especially during the winter. People don’t realize how much dedication and time you put into this awesome weather page. Thanks for all you do.
Agreed. Nicely said.
Exactly.. started to comment today over it and stayed silent.
This is a blog and not a fan site. If a fan site, this blog would die a slow but near certain death 😉 Folks are venting, but only seeing a few taking jabs and CB addresses them when he sees reason (CB hates agendas). Not seeing anyone blaming CB… if they did, they would be pretty irrational doing so.
Now the models- THAT’S a different story and no probable way to refute their lack of accuracy for outlooks. If anything is negative inducing- the models are an easy target. They are driving mets and the general public nuts.
I agree. Not too many on here that I’ve seen bad mouth CB. Just because a few get on here and give and update on a model that ran after CB makes a post doesn’t mean that they are slamming CB. I enjoy reading about the most current models in between posts to see how they are trending. If the model is giving something other than what CB forecast hours before I don’t see anything wrong with someone posting that.
Most on here love snow and no doubt will they be disappointed when it goes from a 2-4 forecast to a dusting within 24 hours of the storm. Who has blamed CB for that? It’s a model problem not a CB problem. If every post was just an “atta boy CB” then I wouldn’t even click on the comments and I’m sure many more wouldn’t either.
It’s all good folks. The weather is what is. People should be able to vent as long as they are respectful.
Looks to me like the snow band is strengthening the farther east in moves.. people in eastern Kentucky May get their inch of snow after all
According to future radar
It seems like nothing is coming as snow first this winter. It’s always been rain, then a chance of snow. Wish we could get a big snow soon that doesn’t start off as rain. Seems our chances slim down when rain is a part of the mix. Temp drops are behind it and never make it in time. In my area at least.
If everyone had to get up every morning, clean their car and drive in snow and ice… they wouldn”t be wishing for it!!!! Rather have rain !!!
Bring it on! I love the extremes! I love hte sub zero and 100+ I love the snow. The cold rain just gets me down…..
I got my clock set so I’ll see in the morning if it will be a snow day or not! …. thank you Chris….
Can someone address what causes snow to the south of us? Is it according to the track of the low? I am just curious about that? Chris I have followed you a long time I appreciate your hard work and all the time you put in! I enjoy our winter weather community made some great friends! Everyone stay warm check in your neighbors and those wonderful animals and pets!
Looks like it may not even rain in far South EKY..Moisture is getting eaten up alive..Which is good..No slick travel..
I hope you are right. If all it is going to do is rain, someone else can have it. I have seen enough of that this year.
At least the cold weather will freeze up all the mud for a while…
RIP winter
