Good Saturday to all my fellow weather lovers. Temps are finally heating up across the bluegrass state and the warmer may actually do us some good. Much needed rain is on the way for the first half of next week and some of the action may get cranking up by Sunday afternoon.

I’ve been amazed at how dry the air has been in recent weeks. Is anyone else getting static electricity right now? I’m getting shocked left and right and I honestly can’t recall that ever happening this time of year. That dry air will help give us another very nice day today as temps hit the mid and upper 80s. A 90 is possible in the west.

We will moisten things up later tonight into Sunday as some clouds begin to increase from the south. There is a lot of juice lurking in the Gulf of Mexico and this stuff will work northward into our region into early next week. This should bring a healthy dose of rain to the state. Check out the 5 day rain forecast from the HPC…

That should be used as a general guide as thunderstorms can drop a lot more rain on any one location. Widespread 1″+ rains will be possible during this time. We may actually see a few spots getting a little too much water and that’s something we will be watching.

Temps will come down and look cooler than normal for much of the week. Take a look at the cool look of the GFS Ensembles…

That’s been the theme of June, so far. The same model run shows the day 7-14 period looking normal to slightly below…

Most of the really warm air continues to bypass our region to the north. Canada is crazy warm!

Have a great Saturday and take care.
