Good evening, folks. Heavy rain and gusty winds are rolling across the bluegrass state as a powerhouse of a cold front slams in. This front is ushering in a major temperature drop and a touch of wet snow for some.
Ahead of the front, record highs in the 70s were recorded in central and eastern Kentucky. A wall of rain and some thunder is also ahead of the front, creating additional high water issues for some.
As the front passes, temps drop into the 20s tonight with a period of wet snow possible. Wind chill numbers by Friday morning will be around 10 degrees in a few areas. That means it is going to feel 60 degrees colder tomorrow than this afternoon. That’s absurd.
Seasonal cold settles in for Friday and Saturday with the next system moving in on Sunday. The NAM shows the potential for rain and a mix…
The next system moves in early next week, bringing the potential for another heavy rain event. Ugh.
I leave you with your evening tracking tools…

Thanks Chris. I’m sure you and the rest of your weather team will be on watch tonight. Appreciate all that you all do. Stay safe and warm everyone.
Ol Jim B is not one to say I told you so back in November, so I won’t haha… these trends are hard to break in our area of country
The current trend has been rolling for over a year. The back loaded Winter is shooting blanks.
LOL…SO TRUE. Maybe we get one surprise late season snow. Other than this, I cant speak any more positive on how bad this winter turned out.
I think it is just going to be more of the same. A lot of rain a few backside flurries until the average highs climb enough to shut them off. Right now it looks like I could set my second low season snowfall record in the past 3 years. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse…..it does.
You guys are right, as a snow lover winter never so up much at all. Ready for spring to sprung without rain.
The radar looks weird. Is it just raining mud now?
I was just getting ready to ask about that radar. I have never seen that olive green color. What in the world?
I remember saying a while back RIP winter and got poo pooed….but we’re still here talking more about rain than snow….js
I noticed a lot of the commenters who scolded us folks who declared Winter dead a month or so ago have gone silent. Maybe reality is finally setting in.
We knew we were trouble will all the adjectives and nouns added other than the one expected…. snow.
