Good evening, folks. I don’t have a lot of time, but I wanted to drop by for a quick update on the colder pattern settling in. This is a pattern bringing some flakes to the region tonight, with winter weather chances increasing by the weekend and into next week.
Our cold front is FINALLY through the state, taking the heavy rain to our east. Northwest winds are still howling and can hit 40mph at times. That same northwest wind may also throw a few snow showers of flurries our way. Here’s regional radar to track the action…
Wind chills tonight will be in the teens as actual readings hit the 20s. Wednesday looks good with upper 30s to middle 40s with a mix of sun and clouds.
The active pattern returns with a cold front moving in Thursday night. That has showers ahead of it, with colder air coming in behind it. That colder setup forces the storm track farther south, bringing the chance for winter weather our way. To systems can bring winter weather this weekend, with another early next week.
The first arrives later Friday and early Saturday, with the next one Saturday night and Sunday, and the third by Tuesday. The models, as expected, change from run to run on the track of each, but it’s fun to watch…

The European Model has a swath of accumulating snow possible across the northern half of the state with the weekend systems…
Again, don’t take the numbers or track to heart because I assure you it will change over the next few days. I’m only showing this to illustrate how the storm track is focusing farther south, bringing snow chances back our way.

Thanks. Chris. But this afternoon sure felt different than it did when I went to work this morning! Temp has dropped from 57 to 42, with gusty winds blowing. Maybe the wind will help to dry us out just a tad before the next batch of weather heads at us. In any event, from the current maps, our winter weather will be cold rain or freezing rain. So a couple of dry days ( or a day and a half) will certainly help! Have a good evening and now Cats…..FINISH!!!!

Seems I64 and on north for good snow chances. Unless model cherry picking is the choice 😉 Perhaps another regional storm 😉
More like north of the Ohio River in the snow zone. The 64 corridor is rarely ever a sweet spot.
That’s called a “regional storm” even though Kentucky is about 5% of the region 😉
Write it down more rain with the next systems Kentucky winter weather is easy the models say rain or snow you know 95 percent of the time it’s rain why would you expect anything else

I am at a loss for words, I saw a few backside flurries coming through Huntington about 11pm.
Louisville record 37 hours of rain. And on a side note Duke scores 38 points in seven mins to best UofL….that’s a record as well…
