Good evening, everyone. We have a quick hitting winter weather maker rolling our way late Friday into Friday night. This will have a swatch of accumulating snow with it and may also have an area of freezing rain.
For that reason, a Winter Weather Advisory is already out for much of Kentucky…
This should extend through eastern Kentucky and into West Virginia, but… you know how the local NWS offices roll.
Here’s my latest call for snowfall…
The WPC is highlighting an area along Interstate 64 for the potential of 4″ or more snows…
The European Model shows this potential for areas just south of the 64…
The same model run is also showing a freezing rain threat across the west and south…
The latest NAM is similar with the snow, but is more amped up with the freezing rain…
Snow
Freezing Rain
The NEW GFS has a similar swath of snow…
And shows the freezing rain potential…
All of this comes in behind a cold front dropping into the state tonight. That’s touching off a band of showers, which you can see on our regional radar…
Make it a good one and take care.
Thanks Chris. Once again, always a bridesmaid but never a bride… ~sigh~. Have a good evening.
If you look at it from an excessive rainfall perspective, you are getting ready to be more than just “Maid of Honor,” LOL.
What a scary look for next week! Several inches looks likely CoffeeLady, for at least our region in KY!
Something to behold looking at the GFS..Southern and South Eastern Ky and Tenn will be one big pot hole after this mess if it’s right..Really troubling at this point..
#TeamSouthEastRige
If you take it out 10 days on GFS, it has far SE KY counties near 10 inches! If this verifies, it would be disastrous and put me around 16 inches by end of month!!!
Terry, You might be in the hunt for this snow event after all. Just like last March there were numerous snows predicted for the 64 corridor and all of them missed. It has become extremely difficult to get accumulating snow along I64.
Thanks CB! Wonder how cold? Warm air tends to ruin the snow party. This year for sure.
Another boring wet snow event.
I guess I should be happy that the moisture coming down from the sky will be white this time.
RIP win…..eh forget it. You know same ole same ole….
Yes, please forget it. 😉
Hammy, sometimes you just gotta know when to hold em’, no when to fold em’, no when to walk away, know when to run! Seems we are at the latter of that now. Barring a trend buster, one of the wimpiest snow pumped winters yet.
Sorry Jeffy I’m here to stay….and as long as WKY misses out I have to vent…..
Euro for SE Ky. Is nuts. Never going below freezing tom night plus its 56 degrees right now. Not hardly a frozen ground scenario. Bring Spring!
