Good Saturday everybody. We have a gorgeous day taking shape across the bluegrass state as sunny skies, low humidity levels and warm temps combine to give us a winner. A surge of heat builds in for Sunday before a cold front works across the state Monday allowing for some September like air to take up residence across much of the eastern half of the country.

Highs today will hit the middle 80s for most of central and eastern Kentucky. The west will be warmer, but everyone will have fairly comfy air in place. Sunny skies will dominate the day.

Hot air blows into town on a gusty southwesterly wind on Sunday. Readings may hit the low 90s across many areas. This heat surge is ahead of a cold front that sweeps in from the northwest on Monday. This front should crank out some scattered showers and storms. Temps on Monday should be much cooler with upper 70s in the north and 80s in the south.

The cool air really kicks in by Tuesday with readings likely staying in the 70s for highs for many areas. Lows will drop toward 50 for a couple of mornings.

The pattern over the next week looks to feature a nice little battle between and heat and cool. Take a look at how the GFS sees the jet stream playing out…

It’s crazy to see a back and forth temperature pattern like this not produce much in the way of showers and thunderstorms around here.

We will also be watching the Gulf of Mexico and what is likely to become Debby. That will likely have a decent influence on the overall pattern at some point over the next week. Here’s the latest from the National Hurricane Center…

TC Activity

I’m having a baseball weekend with the guys in Cincy. That means the Saturday night post is in jeopardy. 😉

Have a great Saturday and take care.
