Good Friday everyone and thanks for making KWC your home for all things Kentucky weather. Thursday’s temps were about as hot as it can get in Kentucky during the month of June. Readings from 100-107 blanketed the state and the oven door remains wide open today. The hot and dry air hangs tough, but MAY have to fight off a stray shower or thunderstorm.
High temps today should range from the upper 90s to mid 100s across the bluegrass state. That range is to account for the possibility of a few clouds or a shower or thunderstorm blowing up. Record highs will again be in jeopardy today and you can track it all here on the blog…
Current Temperatures
Today’s Highs
Keep an eye on Indiana and Ohio for the possibility of a few storms trying to fire and dive in here.
A similar forecast plays out for Saturday with triple digits and a boomer possible. We should begin to see a bit of an increase in juice by late this weekend into much of next week. The GFS likes a few storms for later Sunday…
The model then shows a similar setup as we get closer to the 4th of July…
Do a little rain dance!!!
Have a great Friday and take care.
I like to take walk in the evenings to enjoy the cool night air but even last night at left like an oven outside!
I honestly want rain, but I don’t want rain because I know that will make it humid. I have fallen in love with dry heat and don’t know how I can go back to humid heat. I low the dew point in the 50’s or lower. Lol. I guess I love rain more.
Welcome to summer, friends. About 11 last night, it was still a toasty 84 on our back deck. I am thankful it wasn’t humid to go with it. Everyone stay safe in this heat and don’t forget your pets. They need to get some extra TLC as well in this heat. Thanks, Chris.
So according to the ‘Laws of Balance’…does this portend extreme negative temps for us…and since there is no humidity, of course!, NO SNOW!?
Well, the dew points have shot up well into the 60s today.. feels much worse out today than yesterday.
I was out very early this morning to fill up water tanks. The air already felt a bit more humid. Hopefully that will give us a shot at some rain soon.
A very good friend of mine very nearly lost her home in yesterday’s Bourbon County brush fire. She has a lot of pets and was in a panic as she drove home to see what was happening. The fire jumped her house, thank goodness.
Our saving grace is low dew points, 71 dewpoint in Frankfort, the models are wrong about that forecast, Hopefully those storms will break through and give some of us a little drink?? No power outages please!
Hit 100 at my house in northern Jessamine at 1:30 this afternoon. It sure feels hotter than yesterday. Yesterday’s heat was so dry, but it feels more humid today and is making this heat unbearable.
Temps here in Keavy/Corbin is at 98°. Thermometer on front porch is showing (in the shade) 103°. Enjoying the summer weather but I am ready for some much needed rain. Would love to see several days of a nice steady rainfall with no lightening so the ground can absorb the moisture and become healthy again. A brown summer is just UGLY!
At 2:25, temp is now 102 at my house in Valley Station (jefferson county KY)
Heat-busting t’storms in northern Indiana in Marshall county. Damage being reported.
Hey, Chris? What’s the hottest humidex ever recorded? Anywhere? Did a google search but didn’t see anything official looking.
Now, 134F in Crab Orchard at 2:45PM
134 degrees?!?
Those storms in Indiana and Illinois………there may be a shot later on for some.
Areas near Cincy are under a T-storm watch. My wife was spraying the flowers yesterday evening and 5 robins came flying into the spray. They were loving it and apparently parched also.
Thermometer on front porch (in shade) is registering 109°!! A/C just went down. 🙁 Now I am going to have to sit in front of fans for the rest of the day.
Hey KeavyMan1,
Sorry to hear about your AC unit going out. Give us a call. We’d love to help you out. 859 548 4328
yeah mine was up to 111.4* but has cooled to 109…lol..lol
Severe thunderstorm watches are in northern KY! Maybe some folks will get lucky? Hey Chris where is that cooler than normal summer you where talking about a few weeks ago ;)?
Interesting something I just heard on TWC. If Atlanta hits 106? I think tomorrow that will be there all time hottest temp ever recorded for the city.. Columbia and Nashville.. Both of those cities hit 108 for their all time record high that just happened today. Seems strange since Lexington’s all time record high has been 108 for a long time. I would have thought ATL’s, Nash, and Columbia would have much higher all time hi temps than 108.

Unofficially, 105 at Louisville; 110 at Bowling Green, both all-time record highs for the month of June
Astonishing damage along MCS path; winds of 70-90 mph common; 91 mph wind gust at Ft Wayne IN earlier (ASOS)
Full barn collapse with parts of 30′ x 40′ roof in the nearby trees not too far from Columbus OH
I never cuss. Never. If we get that debris gust front with strong winds and everything is coated in dust — like all those water tanks and swimming pools I’ve been filling three times a day for the wildlife — and then we don’t get any rain, I shall cuss like nobody has ever cussed before.
I need to look up some really good words to use.
106 in downtown Danville today. This is the hottest I have ever seen it since I moved to KY in 2001.
UGH !!! I HATE WE MISSED THE RAIN….. 70 in cincy and and a blistering 104 here in Barbourville…CRY…CRY…CRY…
Well, I am cussing! And we lost power!!!!
Mother nature loves Cinn. Area, they always get the rain??
Boy what wind came through Estill County a while ago! The sky looked like pictures of the dust bowl. It has cooled (ha ha) things off abit, but still no rain.
Its quit tough for everyone……..!
