Good Tuesday, everyone. We have an honest to goodness September feel to the air surging into the bluegrass state. This will hang around for the next few days before we slowly get it closer to normal by the weekend. Until then. let’s enjoy this taste of awesomeness from Mother Nature.
Highs today are in the mid and upper 70s for many as a mix of sun and clouds continue. Humidity levels are as comfortable as you’re ever going to feel for this time of year. For folks across the east and southeast, a few showers and low clouds will linger into this morning. Be patient, things get better…
That will set the stage for overnight lows to hit the 50s across much of the bluegrass state and surrounding states.
Wednesday’s weather looks similar to what we have going on out there today. Now, there is a small chance for a popup shower or two during the afternoon hours. That comes from some afternoon heating from the sun going to work on a cold pocket of air aloft.
In honor of this blast of September, crank this one up…
Temps for Thursday and Friday return to the widespread 80s, but the air is still very comfortable.
Remember that tropical system near the Bahamas? It’s now Tropical Depression number 3, but is not expected to strengthen further…
That should have no impact on our weather.
A few showers and storms will try to crank this weekend and early next week. That’s ahead of another trough that tries to dig into the east next week…
We shall see how that shows up in the coming days.
Enjoy your awesome Tuesday and take care.
I designate today as a no complaints posting day:)…..
Love the music and this better air blowing in for a few days!
Even Nashville TN late afternoon was in the low 80s, dewpoint temperature just 57!
Great opportunity to kill the AC and switch on our big whole house fan.
Forty eight hour storm total 3.13 inches of much needed rain for Taylor County. This rain fortunately came in the form of scattered showers yesterday. The reprieve from the heat we have all experience here lately courteous of a strong cold front which I have not seen at the end of July since I can remember. The cold and dry air aloft has moved into the Gulf states. This folks could be the pattern change we all have been looking for. Maybe Autumn and Winter will have a chance after all ?
I can July 2014 high temperatures in the upper 70’s to lower 80’s.
What I meant is the area of cold dry air aloft covers more real estate than any cold front I’ve seen during any Summer maybe since the late 1970’s. This will only show up on the Water Vapor Loop Satellite. Check it out.
Tropical Depression number Three could be strong enough keep the cool, dry and pleasant weather in our area a little longer maybe ?
Earth, Wind & Fire….. Great artist from the recent past !
Haha Earth Wind and Fire! Awesome! September! Great song I grew up with! Those were good times.
Although Earth Wind and Fire was before I was born, my parents introduced me to 50s, 60s and 70s tunes. Been hooked ever since.
Great song indeed, even if the later mention of “December” in the lyrics makes me not want to think of cold and snow 😉 (no slight against the many winter lovers on this board)!
‘Comon’ now…even you wouldn’t mind seeing another 93 blizzard:)
Even snow haters slightly enjoyed the 93 blizzard as it was such a mesmerizing (I mean paralyzing) event. LOL!
The 93 blizzard was awesome, but I was nine years old. By my teen years, I was becoming less enthusiastic about winter. I still enjoy the art and science of tracking winter storms. But other than maybe a decent snow for Christmas time, I want my warmth.
But as you know, my wife still loves winter. So does my brother even though he’s now in Georgia!
heading to Destin Saturday! Hoping for a beautiful week at the beach!!!
Today I have to remind myself that if I wanted to live in a place where the summer weather was like it is here today for the majority of the summer, that place would likely be inhabitable for much of the winter.
My wife’s aunt who lives on Cape Cod in South Yarmouth had a rare tornado on their street today. No damage at their home but neighbors down the road did sustain roof damage and downed trees on power lines
Crazy! Areas along a coast and especially land like the Cape (largely surrounded by water) tend to have somewhat more stable air. Severe wx of course needs instability. Thus making this twister even more remarkable.
Back in 1953, debris fell on parts of the Cape as well as Boston. This debris came all the way from the devastating (high end F4) Worchester County, MA tornado.
