Good Monday, everyone. Our potent cold front is rolling into the region today, bringing the potential for strong to severe storms. This front is also going to be a very windy one as much colder air presses in behind this for the next few days. This continues to be part of a very active pattern for late October and one that will take on more of a winter look across the country.

As always, we begin with what’s happening out there today. A line of showers and thunderstorms will develop and roll from west to east across the state.

Damaging winds will be the main threat from the storms as they move through. In addition to the high winds, these storms will pack a lot of rain. Some areas may pick up 1″-2″ of rain from these fall boomers. I will have your tracking toys in a bit.

Much colder air comes in behind this for Tuesday. Winds will be very gusty as temps likely stay in the 50s for much of the day. Wednesday and Thursday still look good with near normal temps and dry skies.

The late week\weekend system continues to be a bit of a mystery in how it unfolds. The models continue to be in similar camps that they’ve been in the past few days. The GFS is super progressive with the storm…

The Canadian is in the camp of the recent European runs as it slowly brings out a big storm system…

Like most things, I suspect the truth lies somewhere in between those solutions. It is interesting to note how the Canadian is also mirroring the European in how it handles the next system early next week. Watch this massive plains storm unleash arctic air behind it and try to bring it east…

Yowza!

Another update comes your way later today. Until then, I leave you with today’s storm tracking tools…
