Good afternoon, folks. A few clouds are beginning to stream in ahead of our next cold front arriving on the scene late tonight into early Tuesday. This will bring a few showers to kick off Election Day, then the focus is on even colder systems working in later this week and early next week. Those have a chance to bring some winter weather into the region. Overall, this is a very wintry setup ahead.
Tonight’s front won’t have much moisture with it, but it does touch off a broken line of showers working in from the northwest. This will decrease quickly as the day wears on…
The next system is a modified arctic front sweeping in here Thursday into Thursday night. This likely brings rain for Thursday with a big north-south temp crash late in the day. That may lead to a little snow mixing in with the rain, especially across the north. That northwest wind behind the system may spit out a few flakes into early Friday.
After showing no system impacting our weather, the GFS is finally starting to see the light…
The Canadian remains unchanged for several days now, bringing a swath of accumulating snow to our north and into the northeastern part of the country…
As you can see, the model does suggest some flakes flying into central and eastern Kentucky.
The temp crash is pretty big on Thursday. Here are the numbers from the GFS…
That also gives us wind chills in the teens by Friday morning with afternoon highs only in the 30s for many.
The same GFS is slowly correcting itself toward what the European Model has been showing for a few days now with the late Sunday\Monday system. This is an arctic front moving in here and may very well have a wave of low pressure along it to bring some snow into our region. The GFS is still too progressive, but it’s getting there…
The GFS is also now seeing the potential for near record cold into next week…
Wind chills from this run are way down there…
I will have an update later today, so check back. Enjoy the rest of your Monday and take care.
Cold air without the snow is the worst.
Quite a price to pay for a few inches of snow.
Rodger in Dodger is back! He’s liking this early season cold and what a joy it would be to see some real snow before Thanksgiving. Rodger in Dodger!
When is the winter weather prediction or forecast coming?
I love the cold! I love the heat! I REALLY love the snow! Bring it on!
