Good Wednesday everyone. August is off and running on a typical August note with hot temps, high humidity and hazy skies. Things continue to look steamy into the first several days of the month before we TRY to shake it up a bit late this weekend into next week.

Temps today will hit the upper 80s and lower 90s across central and eastern Kentucky. Areas from Interstate 65 and west will be several degrees hotter with the far west closing in on 100 degrees.

The heat and humidity will increase by Thursday and Friday with 90-95 degree highs across the central and east and 100 ish across the west. Throw some more humidity into the mix and the feel like numbers will be much higher.

Friday could feature a stray storm or two to start the weekend that looks a little more active. A cold front swings in from the northwest with scattered stuff on Saturday and more widespread action by Sunday. This may result in some strong or severe storms during this time as cooler air bumps up against the heat and humidity already in place.

The overall pattern for the next few weeks continues to look a little active. The GFS two-week rain forecast tries to show some love to western Kentucky…

Let’s hope that thing is onto something as our friends in western Kentucky could REALLY use some rain! Have a great Wednesday and take care.
