Good evening, everyone. Clouds and milder than normal temps continue across the bluegrass state into the evening. Both of those should be fairly common through the weekend as we watch a southern system that can bring some rain into Kentucky.
We know the pattern is skewed milder than normal this weekend into Christmas week, but I need a challenge and that’s what I’ve been doing with our southern system. I get bored easily with nice weather and I have no idea how all these new weather people only want nice weather to talk about. I digress. 🙂
The models continue to indicate a farther north moving shield of rain than what we’ve been seeing in the past several days.
The Hi Res NAM only goes through Sunday evening, but shows the rain getting into southern Kentucky by this time…
This continues to match the look of the Euro Ensembles…
Temps behind this stay mild through next week as we start to focus on a pattern change by next weekend into the closing days of the year.
The European Model shows this change well…
The GFS is also seeing this…
This change has been signaled for a while now on the European Ensembles and that continues to show up well as we end the year and begin 2020…
Hang in there, winter weather lovers, it’s still way early in the game.
Have a great evening and take care.
I am just like Chris in that I hate, sunny boring weather. At times though, and especially during 2018, even I had too much rain and needed a break, LOL. I just couldn’t live in the desert for this reason…can’t live without active weather:)
As mentioned before, how do mets (both pros and otherwise regular weather weenies) in coastal southern California survive their summer dry season?? It must hurt even more that the summer monsoon mostly effects Arizona and New Mexico while only rarely touching the likes of San Diego and Los Angeles.
But California has been on the receiving end of some nice weather systems so far in this west coast wet season. Enduring the long uneventful summer must make these winter events seem all the more sweeter.
This is a weather blog correct!
Sorry if I offend anyone by shortening my verbage to XMas… No disregard for Christ at all. I am a devout Catholic and would never use the Lords name in vain. I have said “Merry Christmas” to many of folk over the past couple days and will continue to do so through the 25th and slightly beyond. I really do not need someone trolling me on a site that talks weather, so if you don’t mind I would like to get back to that, although dull and boring ATM. Think Snow and I hope all of you, especially the ones who have been around for the last Ten or so years, and very Merry Christmas. I also like the looks of the pattern over the next few weeks. Bring on 77/77 or 76/77 for that matter.
77/78….
That dude trolls everybody.
I have learned to just tune him out.
Btw,Merry Xmas
Amen B jenks I would love to see a repeat of that 77-78 winter and i apologize to you for my remarks. That was just my opinion and will keep it at that should have kept to myself.
You do not have to apologize Bjenks…..you owe no one that satisfaction, and Merry Christmas to you.
One person’s Merry Christmas is another person’s Merry X-Mas. Not everyone is religious. Some simply prefer Happy Holidays when referring to this time of year. To each his own, but anyone who gets offended by verbiage, really needs to get a life.
On the subject of weather, any meteorologist who prefers boring weather over storms is in the wrong business.
It has been better already here in East TN than last year’s ‘mud never dehydrates’ winter
When you almost gotta bring out your suntan lotion on Christmas day that is boring weather. Lol
