Good afternoon, everyone. We have a pretty decent late January day taking place across the region, but that’s not going to last. Another system rolls in here for Friday, with another for Saturday. Those two will have touch of ugly with them before we turn Super for Sunday.
A band of light rain increases from southwest to northeast tonight and early Friday. This zips through with a small potential for some frozen stuff across far northern Kentucky…

The next system then moves in with a few showers on Saturday and some of those may end as a flake during the evening. That doesn’t look like a big deal at all.
Super Bowl Sunday looks great with sunny skies and temps in the upper 50s to low 60s. 60s looks to hold tough for Monday and Tuesday as some showers increase. Those showers are ahead of a slow-moving cold front working in here from the west. This will likely slow down, leading to additional waves of low pressure rolling along it.

Winterlover, why in Gods name that you and a few others always feel the need to defend Schroeder is well beyond me. Every time he gets his feelings hurt pulls out the poor pitiful me victim card and I’m leaving the blog etc etc etc…. Anyways you said that in the last Schroeder just offers is own opinion about the weather and he doesn’t provoke CB. Yet Schroeder just posted earlier that he might know more about weather than CB. Sooooo…. winterlover if that’s not provoking and showing complete disrespect towards CB than you need to explain to me what provoking is.
I don’t see anybody else besides you complaing about Schroder. Just let the guy give his opinion and go on that’s all i’m saying.

Schroeder has said multiple times that he knows more about the weather than Chris. He even said “I have forgotten more about the weather than Chris knows”.
You don’t see anyone else complaining about Schroeder but me? Are you serious!?! There’s is quite few that have issues with Schroeder and his comments including CB. Opinions are fine no issues but when he says his stupid comments about knowing more about weather than CB. Than Schroeder is a fool, period!! When this blog gets disrupted your common denominator always goes back to Schroeder and his stupid all knowing disrespectful comments that most on here gets sick of and that’s a fact.

I’ve been on this blog, stumbling upon it by accident,(I was looking up something else…) since early winter ’08, not long after its inception. Over the years, I have truly ENJOYED being here, mostly during winter (Ultimate “Snowbird” here!)months, but I’ve participated in it during spring/summer/autumn, as well, with almost as much enthusiasm as I get during a good snow threat. However, I have to tell ALL y’all on the blog now….well….if Chris wants to ban me, so be it, but here goes:
This blog used to have a LOT of NICE folks on it. I can name soooo many! Vinny, Marsha, Patty, Rolo(I know he has health issues, and I miss him!), MJ,(who was a REAL” Met!)-some still here: Bjenks, Andy, C-Biv, etc…. We all got along just fine for YEARS! SURE?!- We all expressed our opinions about the Wx at the moment, and we may not have all agreed with another persons’ comments, but gosh dang!-we NEVER ONCE got nasty and “talked down” or called-out another for what they thought and presented in their posts’.
In recent years, the comments section has basically went to Hell in a “Ditch-Witch”! A select few seem to be on a high-horse about themselves and their opinions and get off berating others. I don’t think that’s how Chris wanted this to be when he started this blog.
And yet you still missing the point and the common denominator which is Schroeder. Was there a Schroeder back in the day on the blog that would say he knows weather better than CB and make disrespectful comments to CB? I truly doubt it. I’m sure that would of not been tolerated. But yet that’s perfectly ok if Schroeder is making disrespectful comments sweep it underneath the rug, just ignore it. Sorry, I’m not programmed that way I will call him or anyone else out. You don’t like it don’t care. I’ve yet to see you say “Schroeder your comments to CB is pretty disrespectful ”. The only person I take issue with on this blog is Schroeder that is all just one person/troll one common denominator. When Schroeder not on blog the blog is peaceful.

Debbie, Prelude been my nickname ever since I could remember. Reason for the nickname is I own Honda Prelude the car and quite of few. Friends and family would just call me Prelude hence the nickname. Yep that’s right I drive and own a Harley-Davidson Street Glide and own a Honda Prelude talk about thinking outside the box. Imagine that he owns a Honda and a Harley Davidson a Japanese vehicle sitting next to a American made Harley Davidson that’s just a big no no. Lol The thought of a person owning a Harley with a nickname Prelude. That’s just preposterous lol smh I’ll give you that You’re the first who has ever question a nickname by a motorcycle one drives. Too funny you gotta get out more lol.

I have been on this site for more years than I can remember. I love CB and his amount of effort he puts into it. He doesn’t have to, so don’t make him regret it. It LITERALLY is the only site I use for weather. If chris wants to block this guy he can.it used to be fun reading the comments. Now it’s as bad as FB with all the self inflicted drama. Let it be. Talk about ur comments on the weather or related topics please!

Just as much as you have this delusion that you know more about the weather than a certified train meteorologist who has a degree. If this was my blog I would of block you years ago.
From reading all the comments, it seems like the only comment about weather on this post today is going to be mine, lol. Trying to stay out of this drama, but regardless, everyone needs to have respect for Chris Bailey. He’s worked his butt off in the weather field for many, many years. Keep up the good work, Chris. Back to the weather… I am hoping we get at least one good snow storm in the next few days. I’m starting to have my doubts that we’ll get anything. As Chris said the other day, this has been a pretty wimpy winter at it’s best, but I’m still hanging on to somewhat little hope. I saw a bug on my living room window screen today. If we don’t get any snow sometime soon, we’ll have bugs everywhere this spring and summer
Well, the stinkbugs are already out-was in the store the other day and hubby kept shaking his neck and shirt-one was trying to crawl up to his ear!
I haven’t given up hope. This may be one of those winters where it comes fairly late-some mets locally are hinting about mid-month(next w/e or the following week) but of course, too far out right now. All we can do is wait and see. And keep holding on to the hope for all us snowhounds! 🙂

I’m personally looking forward to spring and it’s not that far away. Looks like 2/3 of the way through meteorological winter without even a threat of an accumulated snow. That’s the first time that I can remember going this long without even promise from the week out models. Think sunshine, leaves on trees, and lawnmowers.
Cold one’s,..barbecues and babes..Who needs winter..Now about the weather..It’s the GFS but man it looks wet through the middle of February..Don’t think the mind could handle another repeat of last February..

That same slither of Kentucky has been the hot spot for predicted rain. The southern part of Western Kentucky and then it moves up through central Kentucky. That has been the pattern all winter for the heaviest precipitation and the map you showed is not different. Not good for people wanting change.
I do believe we have broke the record for lowest snow through winter. At least the polar caps are all frozen back 😉
I think two or three winters past, Louisville only recorded 0.03 inches for the year.
It was the same year that Chicago only recorded an inch or less for the season.
Chicago has never seen an inch or less of snow for a winter season. Chicago’s record for the least amount of snow in a season was 9.8 inches set way back in the winter of 1920-21.
This past decade, the least amount of snow for Chicago was 19.8 inches in the winter of 2011-12.

Thanks Illinois Mike for the information. Some people think the snow days here in KY is a past thing. We’re just in a pattern that’s has happen before and won’t be the last. The white stuff will be back in time just got to be patience.
My bad I must of misunderstood what I was reading at that moment in history.
I know it was snowing in Chicago a couple of weeks ago because I had to pull off I-294 around Schaumburg due to the heavy snowfall.
Actually I have driven thru 3 snowfalls this year.

Still holding out hope for apps runner that breaks the site because of 100’s of comments pouring in. Probably not the year for it, but one can hope.
I barely remember those two…in all honesty! (But I’m old with 4 young kids I never planned on having, so that’s the excuse I’m using…) I just remember all the really good times we all had, hardly ever a bad thing said about anyone else. I think we all kind of gave Rolo a hard way to go at times, but it was always good-natured. Perhaps all this negativity is because of the crappy non-winter(s)we’ve had of late? I’m like you-if we could get one, just ONE(1)(uno)good snowstorm, then the load would be lightened a bit….then again….{{shrug}}
