Good Saturday and welcome to a November feeling weekend here in early October. Our cold blast of air arrived this right on cue this morning and will hang tough with reinforcing shots of chill over the next week. In addition to the chill… our pattern looks pretty darn busy.

A band of showers will roll eastward across the state early this morning. Much of the rain will be to our east by late morning and early afternoon as our skies brighten some from west to east. Temps will be in the 50s for highs with the cooler readings across the east. Gusty winds today will make it feel even colder than that.

Current temperatures

A wave of low pressure will develop across the Tennessee Valley tonight into early Sunday. This will throw more moisture into the state with a band of showers breaking out from southwest to northeast. The highest rain chances will be across the south and east. Highs Sunday will range from the upper 40s to near 50 in the east to mid 50s in the far west.

Clear skies Sunday night will allow temps to tank. Upper 20s and lower 30s will be possible by Monday morning and this could set the stage for a hard frost or light freeze for many.

Monday and Tuesday look pretty good with temps warming into the 60s for highs. A cold front approaches the state by early Wednesday and this will knock our temps back down into the upper 50s. It will also deliver us the chance for a shower or storm. Yet another cold front will then dive in by Thursday night and Friday with a much better chance for showers and storms as low pressure tried to develop along the boundary…

That could be a lot of cold rain falling around here into the start of next weekend. This is all part of a very active October pattern across our part of the world. You get a sense of just how active it is by looking at the GFS Precipitation Forecast for the next two weeks…

Have a great Saturday and stay warm. Oh yeah… take care.
