Good Wednesday, everyone. We continue to see a clogged up pattern across the lower 48 as the weather around here actually starts to go in reverse. That’s right, we are going to be watching our eastern sky for the potential of a few showers and storms creeping in. That’s courtesy of all the tropical moisture along the east coast and a potential tropical system heading toward the Carolinas. Eventually, the weather starts to come back at us from the west and that finally brings the cooler air into the region.
The weather out there today is similar to what we had on Tuesday in terms of temps. With the clouds rolling in against the grain, we will have to watch for a shower or storm moving into areas of southeastern Kentucky. Here are your radars to follow along…
This will increase a little more as we go into Thursday and Friday, with the greatest chance across the east. Here’s how the NAM sees it…
Here are the rain numbers from the NAM through Friday…
The GFS has that action getting a little farther west…
A cold front arrives this weekend and may spit out some strong storms across central and eastern Kentucky late Saturday…
The GFS hangs that front up and develops a pipeline of juice from the Gulf of Mexico next week and that keeps daily rounds of showers and storms going…
As of now, the GFS is the lone dog showing this. The Euro and Canadian Models both bring some very pleasant air in here, pushing that front much farther south. The Canadian shows a stronger front by the end of next week…
I suspect the big differences showing up on the models comes from how they handle all the action in the Atlantic. This system off the coast of the Carolinas will try to develop and we have two more named storms well behind that, with another coming off Africa…
We are likely to run out of names and hit the Greek Alphabet for only the second time in recorded history, with the other being 2005.
I will have another update later today, so check back in. Have a wonderful Wednesday and take care.
Between 1 1/2 and 2 inches of rain has fallen throughout the Chicago Metro Area since Sunday morning. This has been our heaviest rain since late June. Cloudy skies and occasional lighter showers are in the forecast here for the rest of the week, along with cool temps in the 60s.
As nothing is going on weather wise in our area. I looked up this video on the Colorado snowstorm yesterday:
