Good Friday, everyone. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms are targeting the region today and bringing the potential for high water issues for some. This is kicking off a rather unsettled and active period of weather that will also feature a nice temp battle into next week.

Today’s showers and storms aren’t constant and it’s not going to last all day. The greatest threat is across the southern and western parts of the state with cooler and drier air in the north. Pockets of heavy rain will also show up through early Saturday in some of these same areas. That’s where local high water issues may develop.

Here are your radars to take you through the day…

The rest of Saturday features dry weather in the north and the better rain chances in the southern half of the state. Temps are all over the place with our front draped through the region. That front lifts back to the north with a band of chilly showers into Sunday. From there, an upper level system opens up from the Mississippi Valley and rolls toward the Great Lakes. This brings an increase in showers and thunderstorms for Monday…

Another storm system likely follows this up with more showers and storms a few days later…

The overall pattern for the next 2 weeks continues to be skewed wetter than normal. The GFS Ensembles show the above normal numbers during this time…

Thankfully, the Ensembles aren’t as snowy during this same time…

The temperature pattern does feature a period of colder than normal temps for the second half of next week, but looks to quickly warm back up into early the following week…

I will update if needed later today. Have a good one and take care.
