Good Sunday and Happy 4th of July! The new month is off and running on a much cooler than normal note with many areas 3 for 3 with highs in the 70s. A few record lows were recorded early Saturday. On our Independence Day, we will find temps back into the 80s, but still behind the average and we could fire up a storm or two.
Our day starts in the 50s and ends in the low and middle 80s for many, which is still very nice! A few afternoon and evening showers and storms try to go up across parts of central and eastern Kentucky. This looks rather scattered as it moves from north to south. Monday could feature a few more showers and storms going up across the region with temps a little deeper into the 80s.
At the same time, Elsa will be working closer to Florida, but how strong this system is depends on how much Cuba can zap from it. Here’s the current information and track forecast from the National Hurricane Center…

The new GFS weakens this storm quite a bit as it moves toward Florida as a cold front brings an increase in showers and storms to us into the middle of next week…
That keeps temps in check once again, but the numbers look to really drop behind the system coming in next weekend…
The EURO is also showing this healthy trough…
