Good Monday to one and all. Our seasonable brand of October chill continues early this week before an even colder shot arrives before the week is over. That’s when another fall cold front sweeps across the state and brings a widespread frost threat this weekend.
Let’s kick things off with the precious present. Temps to start the day are back into the upper 30s to low 40s with a kiss of frost showing up again for some. Highs this afternoon reach the low and mid 60s for central and eastern Kentucky with temps pushing 70 in the west. Regardless, this is some awesome stuff.
Similar skies are noted for Tuesday as the numbers come up a few degrees.
Clouds thicken Wednesday as southwest winds kick in ahead of our next blast of fall air. This arrives Thursday in the form of a cold front and it brings a line of showers and a few thunderstorms with it…

Temps behind this will be the coldest of the season to date and highs may stay in the 50s a day or two.
The pattern following this looks very active for the end of October and it may wind up producing some additional strong storm threats. We are seeing the western trough throw bowling ball looking systems across the country with temps spikes in front of them and temp crashes behind them.
There may be one early next week…
With another right behind it…
Another one may roll in behind that around the end of the month. All of this is with the systems cutting underneath the big blocking ridge across Canada.
Fall is the second severe weather season around here and we’ve already had one severe weather event. Can we make it a few more before the cold wins the battle?
I may throw you another update later today. Make it a great Monday and take care.
Beautiful weather.
