Good afternoon, folks. A weak system is bringing some light snow and light rain to the region later through early Tuesday. This is the first of two systems I’m tracking this week with a bigger system lurking for the end of the week.

The first one is bringing a few bands of precipitation through here right now. For areas getting in on some snow, light accumulations will be possible through early Tuesday. Here are your radars…

Much colder air then works in from north to south Tuesday and this brings another chance at some single digits by Wednesday morning. Wind chills will be near zero or a touch below.

The next system continues to have an increasing potential to become a major eastern US winter storm late week into the weekend. Energy drops in from the north and tries to phase with a system swinging across the south and southeast. Where these two meet up will be the determining factor on where this low goes and how strong it gets.

That storm isn’t a given to have a big impact on the east, but the threat is certainly a real one.

Regardless of this storm and how far west it gets, we are likely to see a cold front with light snow working through here Friday with northwest flow snow showers going into early Saturday.

In my last post, I talked about taking a look toward spring. The past few years have had very ugly springs with lots of cold weather and even some snows. The latest CFS seasonal forecast for February through April has another ugly look…

That type of a temperature setup argues for a very active storm track in our region leading to above normal precipitation…

Enjoy the rest of the evening and take care.
