Good Saturday, everyone. A major winter storm winds down early today with arctic cold air taking control of our weekend weather. Things do improve quickly as we head into next week with temps getting back to springtime levels.
Record setting snows fell in several cities Friday evening and heavy snow is still cranking early today across parts of central and eastern Kentucky. It’s going to be interesting to see if someone can push a double digit snowfall before all is said and done.
Once the main snow winds down, snow showers will crank from the northwest through the afternoon across the eastern half of the state.
The cold is a big story through Sunday morning. Wind chills are frigid.
Better weather moves in on Monday as temps warm into the 50s. The 60s follow that up for Tuesday, but there’s the chance for a shower or two…
The numbers later next week can really jump with 70 degree numbers a good bet…
That will be ahead of a system trying to move in by next weekend with our next chance for showers and storms…
I will throw you another update later today. Until then, here are your snow trackers…

Thanks Chris, We had an Accumulation of 4.0 inches of Snow in Maple. Looks like A Beautiful Late Winter’s Morning ! This Storm has brought Our Snow Total to 16 inches which is 4 inches Above Normal. Could there be More and Bigger Snowstorms Before Spring Weather Arrives for Good in 2022 ???
Thanks Chris. I’ve been gone from KY for a while and I don’t see the fun posts from folks that used to be on here. Major winter storm and I didn’t see ROLO, Bubba, or Schroeder posts. Glad to be back.
Welcome Back !!! I always Enjoy reading Your Post Feederband
I have around 2” here at my house.
The city of Louisville didn’t have have a major snowfall.
All of the snowfalls were basically minor inconveniences.
It was a bad year for snow lovers mainly west of I-65.
It’s 21° at 10:00 am in Bowling Green, and gusty northwest winds are giving us a wind chill of 7°.
Bowling Green set a snowfall record for March 11th with 5″.
Temps on Sunday should hit 52°, and we’re looking forward to mid-70’s by Thursday.
You guys/gals in Kentucky definitely got a lot more snow than we did in the Chicago Metro Area from this system. The Chicago area received only 1 to 2 inches Thursday night into Friday morning, with the heaviest snow of 3 to 5 inches falling downstate in East-Central IL and NW Indiana.
O’Hare Airport received just 0.9 inches of snowfall, while the NWS Forecast Office in the SW Suburbs received 2.1 inches. The strong March sun has melted much of it, but there is still some snow remaining in shaded areas due to the very cold temps. It got down to around 10 degrees this morning, with minimum wind chills of near 10 below zero.
Here is the event summary of the snow from the system: https://weather.gov/lot/2022mar1011
I was Talking to My Sister who Lives in Northern Indiana, and She Was telling Me about How consistence the Cold has Been this Winter. They usually receive quite an Amount of Snow Every Winter thanks to the Lake Effect Snow System.
The LED streetlights and headlights we see popping up *everywhere* clearly do the opposite of what they’re supposed to do. They’re so glaringly bright, and the color temperature so vastly different than that of natural night, that as a driver you can hardly see anything. Nearly every one of these pictures has glaring, extremely bright, blinding LEDs in them. Can’t drive at night anymore.
