Good afternoon, everyone. Here’s hoping this update finds each of you having the merriest Christmas ever. Our focus is on the light snow working in from the northwest late tonight into Monday. This is a system likely to impact travel once again.

Many areas will pick up an inch or two of snow from this, but a few pockets of higher amounts may show up in the west and north. This is the area I highlighted in my First Call for Snowfall and it still stands…

A couple of intense bands may show up in those areas. Travel conditions will go downhill quickly as the snow moves in. The last of the flakes look to move away early Tuesday, but roads will likely remain slick for many.

The forecast models continue to have their usual differences with a light snow system…

You can clearly see how amounts trend down the farther southeast you go.

The pattern flips to milder by the end of the week, but it’s a VERY active setup with several storm systems coming at us from the southwest. These can put down a lot of rain in this region from New Year’s Weekend into the first week of the year.

In my last post, I mentioned how each storm that rolls through would focus farther east than the one before as winter begins to press back in. The EURO shows how the boundary for storms slowly comes east…

That’s a look we have to be careful with as it could very well put down enough rain to cause high water concerns.

I’ll get into the winter returning setup with my overnight post.

I’ll throw you another quick update later today. Until then, here are your radars to track the flakes approaching from the northwest…

Have a great rest of your Christmas and take care.
