Good Thursday, everyone. Winter continues to fight back into the bluegrass state and will bring a round of arctic air and a few shots of snow. This will make for a perfect ending to a wild week of weather.
Our day is starting with snow showers and flurries with some light accumulation for some. Temps are much colder with readings down into the low and middle 20s. Keep an eye on black ice for that morning commute. Highs today will top out in the upper 20s and low 30s.
A clipper works our way this evening into tonight. This will bring a swath of light snow to much of the state. This looks like a decent little snow maker that will be blown around by arctic winds. A coating to an inch will be likely for most areas. Some enhancement will be possible across the east.
Yes… some of you will likely see a snow day for Friday.
Temps will be near 10 degrees to start the first day of February with afternoon highs in the upper teens and low 20s. Gusty winds will make it feel close to 0 at times.
Another system dives in for Saturday and this should become another light snow maker across our part of the world.
The latest trend on the models has been to send another clipper into the region on Sunday. This one has a lot of dig to it…
That could deliver another round of light snow and arctic cold temps.
I will have another update later today. Make it a great Thursday and take care.
I won!
I have a very thin coating of snow building up in southern Lex.. I looked out the window and was shocked. Like I said very thin. Not enough tone called a trace but enough to make mulch and dirt a little white. Snow is heavy right now.
1 inch here, inch and a half there, Winters really hopping now.
More like a trace here and a 1/4-inch there. 🙁
i think its funny ita suppose to be winter but my kids have yet to have a snow day they have had 4 flood days so far but no snow days
The new norm….
Boooooring……
A carriage window and roof dusting here at the ole mansion in Berea.
I was surprised, as it really didn’t feel that cold outside. This morning seems like a testament to how humidity can affect temperature perception in the winter just as much as the summer (73% atm in Madison).
Preparations underway for the Blizzard of 13′. A whole inch might just be enough to shut everything down…better get the milk & bread!
Well we have snow flurries and High Water In Pikeville.
Continued light snow in London/Corbin this morning with a light dusting on everything. At least we know that the ground is still cold enough to support snow. Bring on the clipper…it’s currently taking shape over Kansas.
cold, windy and snow showers!!!! Ready to see what we will get tonight!!!!
meh.
meh…meh…meh….I second and third that….If this is all it is going to do…Bring on spring.
Although…There are a series of storms coming later this month that COULD be that old school variety. Wish these clippers where of the stronger type….
MEH!
Here in East Nelson county close to the BG Pkwy we are getting quite a snow fall:) Very pretty!
Now this is truly funny. I already have more snow this morning in lawrenceburg (a few flakes sticking on my deck) than I had either of the last two times I was under a “winter weather advisory.” It at least looks wintery out there with the wind blowing around the snow.
28 degrees, flurries to on and off light snow, and blustery winds.
Radar is filling in nicely and snowing in Johnson county
Radar is filling in nicely and snowing in Johnson county
Wow…I have more snow now then I have seen all winter…Roads in front of my house are very slick…..still snowing…yeah….
Well we got our couple of flakes here in Laurel County! YAH!
NWS has put out winter weather advisory starting 8pm tonight to 8am tomorrow …. these are great conditions for a decent snowfall …. anyone remember ’93 when everyone said we will get a dusting …. I woke up to 24 1/2 inches of snow
Will be coming into Shelbyville tomorrow night. Can anyone keep me posted on snow totals that way?
About a trace, there ya go!! Don’t worry, if it snows more than that.. It’ll start raining 😉
Gotcha. Well, sure looks good south of Louisville on the radar this morning.
Looks like a snowy start to the month! What are the chances we get this winters season total in 1 month?
folks in SOUTH and SE KY look to ur west for tonite system, it in PERFECTY POSITION to give us MAX snowfall. look as it riding the trough and will move right across KY/TENN border.
1-2 inches look solid for several tonite. its hook up perfect the engery with this with the troiugh!!!!
I hope your right rolo!!!!
A few flakes earlier in Frankfort, now sunny, oh well some folks are getting a little snow today!
It’s probably going to pull a magic trick and go right around Bowling Green as so many seem to do.
Yawn….
Been snowing since about 7 AM in Radcliff. Some periods of heavy snow.
Thinking advisories will go up soon…..
Hopefully this comment will go thru.
Snowing pretty hard in Etown!! Started light this morning…then got heavier. Since 6 am. I love snow surprises! 🙂
Snowing nicely in Corbin….quickly accumulating on surfaces.
How much snow in Elizabethtown?
Also, I may have missed this, so forgive me in advance: is Chris holding off from issuing a snow map OR is he not issuing a snow map b/c there’s not enough snow for it to be worth it?
Pouring the snow! Big flakes! Bring it on!
A nice 10 minute heavy snow shower came thru Frankfort, maybe a .25in accumulation, looked very nice 🙂
WYMT SNOW MAP 1-2 inches.
Winter weather advisory issued including Lexington!!!!!!
hmmm look like ROLO might been on to something after all. ALEX HAYES just posted the low down, if u dont follow here u need to. she keep u updated thru the morning and day while the GODFATHER gets somwe well deserved time off.
im seeing 2-4 inches posible, yes there be spots with only inch or so but if u get in the SWEET SPOT ur going get a decent little snowfall.
I think so too. Then this will be a bust for underestimating snowfall
With his snowfall, temps may go into single digits tonight, maybe coldest reading for the rest of the season.
LIttle snow bands making a big difference. I just drove from one part of my county to the other. One side had just a skim of snow while the other part had a good covering on the ground, probably an inch or so. Unfortnuately I live on the side with the skim of snow, boo.
