Good Saturday evening. Snow continues to fill the air and cover the ground across much of the bluegrass state this evening. Some areas will pick up an inch of the white stuff and roads will become slick as temps drop into the low 20s.
We’ve now had 4 days in a row of widespread snow showers and squalls here in the commonwealth and this afternoon’s temps didn’t make it out of the 20s for many. None of it came as a shock to you as the blog has been all over this pattern for a few weeks.
We still have a ways to go with the cold and snow. A developing storm system will take aim at our region Tuesday and Wednesday. The European Model continues to have a threatening look…
That would be an ugly mix for Tuesday with snow taking over for Tuesday night and Wednesday. That’s a setup that is likely to produce a swath of heavy snow across our part of the world. Exactly where that sets up remains to be seen.
The European Ensembles are also on board…
I take it from your comments that a certain government agency is saying there is nothing to see here with this storm. Maybe… maybe not. But that’s an absurd statement from 4 days out. I guess all the sunshine and 40 degree temps of the past 4 days is getting to them. Just sayin’!
Have a great evening and take care.
Im going to go ahead and ask Old Man Winter to stop trying to remain relevant in our weather for the next 8 months. It had its season to shine and it has not produced so Im going to ask that Old Man Winter politely go back into hibernation and wait his turn.
Since the models are not exactly too good this far out, I agree with CB. Seems if something does pan out, I64 track is best bet for significant snow on the ground. Seems mainly a mix event unless cold air can defy the odds and be a player along with the moisture.
On a sports note and from a total team perspective, the Cards are playing like skilled adults and the Cats are playing like semi-skilled children. Unless an SEC championship, looking like, NIT yeah you know me.
Beth and Dee- Stay back!! I am really sensitive to this Cats thing ATM. Don’t make me cry…….. too late. Tito throw me a tissue!
Bubba we are going to end this curse this week. The decade or longer snowless spell is coming to an end, All you spring naysayers get the h@ll out of the way, because the river blockade has been penetrated by the lion.
Come on you cannot give it up for 1 more week. trust me we will have a spring.
I didn’t know BubbaG worked for a government agency.
TheDarkside.gov 🙂
When is the site going to come back up, its temporarly down.
Next winter 😉
well if it is going to snow, it better snow big or not at all. this flizzard stuff from the past week is wearing on my nerves.
I’ve enjoyed the off and on snow showers today, even though it didn’t stick. Personally, I’d just as soon miss the next system and focus on Spring 🙂 Sorry, but I’m ready for grilling and watching tv outside again!
I love days like today.
Winter your last gasp is on notice, we are tired of your wimpy weak BS, bring it or go away, Spring is the MASTER now! Wus!
Can I hear an amen in the house! I totally agree. SPRING!!!!! To h*@* with these dreary miserable, cold, rainy days we have had since November, I’m ready for the much better (in my opinion) sunny 90 degree days! I would gladly take 100 degrees over this mess we’ve had to deal with for months….
Speaking of NWS, all day today, as it was snowing, our forecast was a chance of flurries. Tonight, now with heavier snow that is accumulating on the roads in London, we have a 10% chance of snow. Interesting. Thus, we don’t trust the rainy forecast of mid week. May be the last chance for snow….let’s get to it!
Four days of continous snow that amounted to zero accumulation… so depressing! The whole drive from lex to l-ville today it snowed. Felt like such a teaser. If tuesday gives us nothing i give up!
Had 1/2 inch of snow this morning, which equals the season total. I’m okay with some snow early next week, but after that gets out of the way I hope spring comes in a hurry. Too many below average days in mid to late February for me. Usually sneak a few warm enough to go outside days in there as a preview to spring but that wasn’t the case this year. Wouldn’t have been so bad if December and January wasn’t a dud. Couldn’t get winter in here this year and for some reason spring doesn’t want to show up either. Tired of this in between weather.
The sky won’t snow and the Cats won’t play, desperato, why won’t you come to your senses, KY rides to many fences!
I agree with Rachel… 1 more chance OLD MAN WINTER…and then its come on spring PRETTY MOMMA!!
Forecasted snow accumulation totals for some cities are cracking me up. Chicago: 1 to 17 inches
That is a groovy kind of gig, generic met forecasting 🙂
It is finally getting serious about snowing! Snowed all day with nothing to show for it.We might have enough to make a snowball here in Estill county!
Going way north for Kentucky to get anything. Hope I am wrong, but the North West trend is going to take over. Cold rain with a little snow. How boring. Bring on spring. Just can’t get excited about this one…..
Return of the Swathman? I think not….and I call BS on all the snow squalls and widespread snow showers for 4 days in a row unless you live in the Himalayas….what happened to the forecast accumulation for last Wednesday night through Friday? Do people forget these posts?
Yes, I do too….
Go ahead and bring on the next one Tuesday-Wednesday. I guess sequestration has even furloughed winter.
Rookies! Chris they will learn???
I am a slow student albeit a pondering one. On the European model for Wednesday morning, if this were to be the actual set-up, what would happen weather-wise with the two lows so close together?
A dusting this morning in Boyle County. In my part of Boyle less than 3 inches for the season. If there was more it did not last long enough to remember.
Your suck up into the cosmic rain hole.Seriously, the weaker low will probably unite with the stronger low and become one energy. Usually the stronger low is the coastal.
Thanks for the explanation Which Way. . .
nothing to see here folks. let’s move on.
Note sure what you are talking about…explain yourself…
