Good Saturday and welcome to the first weekend of spring. All eyes are on a developing winter storm across the southern plains. This will roll into the Ohio Valley on Sunday and bring a round of rain and snow to our region. While the heaviest snow will fall to our north, I still expect some accumulating stuff Sunday night and Monday.

The highest threat for a snowstorm continues to be north of the Ohio River. Low pressure will roll into central Kentucky early Sunday and then slow down. It will bring widespread rain and a touch of a mix in the north during the day. Colder air will then sweep in from the northwest into Sunday night and Monday and periods of snow will take over.

This setup shows up nicely on the NAM…

The setup will produce some decent wraparound snows into Kentucky by Sunday night and Monday. The impact…

Snow Risk 2

Accumulating snow looks to be a good bet to start the new week and that may produce some rare late March snow days. Snow showers will then kick into high gear and that may carry us into the middle of next week.

Thermometers will continue to run MUCH colder than normal and will really help our chances of pushing this March into the top ten coldest on record.

I will have updates later today. Make it a great Saturday and take care.
