Good Friday, folks. Rounds of showers and storms have been rolling across the bluegrass since Thursday morning and those storms will continue for the next several days. The timing on this pattern doesn’t spell the best of news for those of us hoping for a weekend of wonderful weather.
A stalled out front continues to be draped across the region today and this will help fire off additional showers and storms. The best coverage on the boomers will be during the afternoon and evening hours. Locally heavy rainfall, tremendous lightning and small hail will be possible.
A little impulse moves in by Saturday and that looks to add a little more lift to the atmosphere. That may lead to a greater coverage of the showers and thunderstorms and that shows up well on the GFS…
With a fairly light flow aloft and a juicy atmosphere… the heavy rain threat will need to be watched. Another round or two of storms will be possible through Sunday. The rain numbers through early next week continue to be impressive..
Temps early next week will likely surge well into the mid and upper 80s for Monday and Tuesday. The threat for showers and thunderstorms will come down a bit for those days. That will pick back up for the middle and end of next week.
Make it a great Friday and take care.
Thanks, Chris. Since I have to work tomorrow, let it be rainy…NOT.
But at least, it does not look to be a washout. I can deal with that.
Anyway, hope it is not a complete washout. I saw your thoughts on the extended. How is Memorial Day weekend looking at this point? Are we going to have good weather, or more of this wet and wild stuff? Happy Friday, everyone. Have a great one!
I hope this is how the entire summer will play out. Days of 80’s night in the 50’s and 60’s with ample rain and some cold fronts coming through from time to time. My favorite summer ever was 2004. No 90 degree days and highs in the 60’s in August.
and that to me…was the worst summer. You shouldn’t have 60 degree highs in August unless you are in Alaska.
You are correct, but I still enjoyed it!
That will not happen, Chris. Sorry.
No need to apologize. I at least saw it once in my lifetime. Asking for a repeat nine-years later is asking for too much! I have witnessed the coolest and wettest summer in the past 30 years (2004) and the hottest (2010) and the hottest temps since 1936 (2012). Kentucky is a fun place to be a weather enthusiast!
Its not just Kentucky, its the rest of the world also. Trust me, Minnesota is worse.
All this rain will eventually lead to very humid weather, no way around that one, wet summers with lower temps always makes it up by being very humid, time will tell I guess?
Funny that yesterday we had a 30% chance of rain and got over an inch here in Frankfort, today 60% and nothing so far, they can’t be right all the time I guess!
Five drops of rain in two days. Let the drought begin. 🙂
